thisworks Perfect Body Smoothing Wash Review

[unpaid/sample/affiliate/ad] The first time I came across AHAs in body care was in Gatineau’s AHA Body Lotion. It was – this over used word, but – a game changer. Now, it’s normal to include acids in body products and for the most part our skin is thankful for it. Smoother, softer and more receptive to moisture, there’s a world of difference between the products with and the products without.

Founded in 2003 by ex-Vogue Beauty Director (and all round good egg), Kathy Philips, the brand has been sold through venture capital three times (that I can count) since 2014. Aside from its original starting point, its best iteration is now and that’s unusual because VCs are only interested in the bottom line so you’d expect some quality dilution each time a new owner shows up. But, I’ve got to say that the famous leg oil (coming up) is as unctuous and dry-skin slaying as it ever was.

I haven’t used the Perfect Body Smoothing Wash until this sample showed up and I’m really enjoying it. You can use it on your body or your face, so it’s nicely gentle with the key to the enzymatic treatment being to leave it on your skin for at least two minutes. Highly inconvenient in the shower but if you dampen your skin, apply it the wash, dance naked around the bathroom for a couple of minutes (or, more likely, tidy up!) and then get into a stream of running water, it won’t be long before you notice just how lovely your skin is feeling. I’m not a shower fan so I just adapt the situation to the bath – still the dancing in the nip but without getting my hair wet.

Although there is a perfectly pleasant Perfect Body Vitamin C Glow body lotion, if your skin is extra dry and neglected the above, Perfect Body Smoothing Wash and Skin Deep Dry Leg Oil is your ultimate dream team. Skin Deep is designed for flaky shins really but there is nothing to stop you giving your whole body the full works – wrap yourself in a warm towelling robe afterwards and enjoy the essential oil aromas which are very present in a relaxing, spa-ish kind of a way. A good alternative, and to eke it out for longer,  is to boost your regular body lotion with a couple of drops of Dry Leg Oil for extra hydration. This Works is one of our better body product collections and I feel is good value for money (especially as it is on offer at SpaceNK just now). With (at the time of writing) 25% off, the Smoothing Wash is £13.50 HERE, Dry Leg Oil is £33.75 HERE and the Vitamin C Glow is £28.50 HERE. I am yet to try the Perfect Cleavage & Neck Serum as I’m testing a neck product already.
