Why focus on the 12 houses?
Houses are arguably THE most important pillar of the natal chart for a simple reason: without houses – which give planetary energies the dimension of space – we wouldn’t have natal charts.
Of course, we could still talk about global transits, as we do in this newsletter, but without houses, their influence is generic, not personal.
Astrology was born when ancient astrologers started tracking planetary movements and advising kings based on eclipses and other celestial events. But over time, there arose a need for personalized insights – to apply astrology to individual lives, not just rulers and worldly affairs.
It’s one thing to know you’re a Virgo Sun – but a whole other thing to understand how that energy manifests in your life through its placement in a specific house.
It’s one thing to know that an Eclipse or Mars retrograde is happening, but it’s a whole different level to see how it actually affects you, activating a particular house and shaping specific areas of your life.
Houses’ importance cannot be highlighted enough – they make astrology personal and meaningful.

Instead of teaching houses with cookie-cutter methods like Gemini = 3rd house – which is like mixing up apples and oranges – we focus on what truly makes houses unique.
We study each house through concepts like the angles, quadrants, or the light/darkness paradigm, which help us understand their deeper meaning.
There is a distinct logic behind actual houses – one rooted in the mechanics of the chart itself, like the day-night cycle, rather than the qualities of signs or planets.

Another limitation in the traditional way houses have been taught is the misconception that if you have empty houses, that house is somehow either not important or implies some sort of lack – e.g., an empty 2nd house means no money, or an empty 7th house means no relationships.
Nothing could be further from the truth!
We will show you 3 key ways to assess what a house means in the chart:
Learning the 12 Houses in Real-Time Through Transits
Another powerful way to learn about houses is through transits. When Pluto, for example, transits through your 4th house, you’ll get a very real and direct experience – not only of Pluto’s influence but also of the 4th house and what it means.
So by paying attention to transits, you:
a) Align yourself with the energies of the moment
b) Deepen your understanding of the meaning and manifestations of the 12 houses
In the 12 Houses program, we use different approaches to learning houses through transits:
- We analyze past transits through houses to understand how life areas are activated over time
- We track current or upcoming transits, like Neptune in Aries, to observe how they activate different houses in our charts
- We pay attention to the Lunar Cycle – over its 29.5-day cycle, the Moon travels through all 12 houses of our natal chart
- We connect with people who have the same Ascendant sign (and similar house setup) to exchange insights and get a taste of how house activations unfold through real experiences
