Early diagnosis can be difficult because symptoms may not be specific to pancreatic cancer.

Look out for these non-specific symptoms:

Back or stomach pain

Tumors can put pressure on nearby organs or nerves and cause pain in the back or stomach.

Slide 4:

Jaundice

Signs of jaundice include:

  • Yellowing of the eyes or skin
  • Dark colored urine
  • Greasy or light-colored stools
  • Itchy skin

Digestive problems

Tumors can partially block the stomach and cause:

  • nausea
  • Vomit
  • Pain after eating
  • Diarrhea
  • constipation
  • Indigestion
  • gases

Weight loss for no apparent reason

Lose weight without trying or having a loss of appetite

Sudden onset diabetes

Pancreatic cancer can destroy the cells that produce insulin and cause diabetes.

Signs of diabetes include:

  • Feeling more thirsty or hungry than usual
  • Urinate frequently
  • Changes in blood sugar levels

Blood clots

Blood clots that get stuck in a large vein, usually in the leg. Symptoms in the affected area include:

  • pain
  • swelling
  • Redness
  • heat

Slide 9:

Pancreatic cancer is not the most common cause of these symptoms. However, if you notice any of these, talk to your doctor about your concerns.
