Suqqu Gel Eyeliner Review (*****)

[unpaid/sample/affiliate/ad] While Suqqu’s gel eyeliner is very unassuming to look at, it’s quite the powerhouse behind the scenes. On my eyes are only the Suqqu gel eyeliner in black and Rum Tubing Mascara – there is nothing else. I’ll warn you that this is a picture heavy post because I’m trying to show exactly what we were instructed to do by Val.

In the top left, I’m stroking the gel liner (it’s both very soft and very pigmented) on my upper inner rim, almost as though trying to draw between each lash. You can use feathery strokes that we are keeping to the outer centimetre (approx) of the inner rim. The aim here is to give a lifted look at the edge of the eye as you can see with both eyes done in the top right. Bottom left, I’m adding (very badly!) a line of the same length on top of the lid right by the lash line. In the bottom right, you can see it tidied up and how it should look.

So now, I’ve added mascara and have a more open and intense look – it’s great for lids that are on the downward move (as mine are) because suddenly you have definition where there was none.

Even better, it’s a good look if you’re a glasses wearer because even behind the lens, you’ll get intensity and your eyes will be more noticeable. The pitfalls are few but learning the technique is one – it’s not difficult but be prepared for some trial and error and remove any wayward liner marks as soon as you can. This stuff doesn’t move once it’s dry which is what makes it so good on the inner rim but there’s a downside. If you do get stuck (as I did going over the top lid) a cotton bud soaked in cleanser will do the job. Don’t forget to pat the lid over to remove any grease before trying again. Once you have mastered the technique (a magnifying mirror is so helpful for it), it becomes almost second nature. If you have very sensitive eyes, you might want to avoid the inner rim altogether. It’s £21 HERE.
