The Best Baby Essentials: A Checklist

156

When I was pregnant with my son, I spent months trying to plan out everything I could possibly need for his arrival. I read the baby books, took the newborn courses, and searched every corner of the internet for the best baby essentials.

In hindsight, the most helpful advice came from other moms in my life. My sister-in-law took the time to sit down with me and plan out my entire baby registry — she recommended baby products she actually used with my nephew, as well as things she’d be using all over again with her second baby, too. I trusted every single item because they worked for her family, and as a new mom, that kind of honest recommendation is everything.

It’s hard to feel 100% prepared for your first baby, but having a strong list of essentials to stock your house with before your due date rolls around helps so much. And if nothing else, it will put you more at ease as you reach the end of your pregnancy + hit nesting mode (yup, it’s a thing).

What to Buy as a New Mom: A Baby Essentials Cheat Sheet

So, that’s why I wanted to create this Baby Essentials Cheat Sheet. This page is designed especially for new moms who are looking for a list of the best baby products by category. Use this as your guide for planning out your baby registry, a last-minute checklist as your due date approaches, or as some gifting inspiration for a new mom in your life.

If you’re looking for even more new mom content beyond these baby essentials, The Mom Edit is a treasure trove. Be sure to check out our Swim Guide, featuring the best swimsuits for postpartum, my Hospital Bag Checklist, or our in-depth reviews on the Artipoppe baby carrier + Doona stroller. If you’re curious about it, we’ve probably tried it.
