For busy working women, the suit is often the easiest outfit to throw on in the morning. In general, this feature is not about interview suits for women, which should be as classic and basic as you get — instead, this feature is about the slightly different suit that is fashionable, yet professional. Also: we just updated our big roundup for the best women’s suits of 2023!

I really like this purpley brown color — it actually reminds me of the heels that I adored so much that we had a zillion purple heel roundups. (It’s really tough to find one that isn’t quite burgundy and isn’t a bright, annoying purple!)

I especially think it’s an amazing color both as a pant suit and as separates because you can wear so much with it. Neutrals are an obvious, easy choice (black, gray, navy, beige) but I think you can also go with a bright red, orange, or pink (or combination thereof), and just about any shade of blue (pale blue, dusky blue, duck blue, cobalt, and more…). (I’d avoid yellows and greens but that’s my my $.02!)

The suit pieces are $160-$330 at Nordstrom and Reiss — I like that they have two different pant options.

Looking for something similar? On the more affordable side, this reader favorite suit under $75 is similar in color, and Express has a number of suiting options in a pretty “wine.” For plus sizes, Universal Standard has a number of blazers and pants in “black cherry,” including this blazer.
