Tell us a little bit about yourself and what you do professionally.
Hello! I’m Victoria, a dedicated wife and proud mom who believes in the power of resilience and transformation. As a survivor of domestic violence, my journey has been profoundly challenging, marked by strength and determination. I have undergone over 100 surgeries to correct the damage caused by my abuser, but these experiences have only fueled my commitment to empowering others.
As the Founder and CEO of my organization, I focus on creating impactful resources and safe spaces for individuals navigating the complexities of trauma and recovery. With over 19 years of experience in advocacy, I have dedicated my career to raising awareness about the importance of mental health and fostering support for survivors. I am also an author, having penned several works, including my memoir, Who Kicked First, and the prequel, Narc Narc, Who’s There. Through my writing, I aim to inspire and provide practical tools for those on their healing journeys. In addition to writing, I host three podcasts that have remained in the top 2% globally for years. Each podcast is dedicated to different themes, where I engage in meaningful conversations with survivors, advocates, and experts. These episodes are designed to educate, inspire, and connect listeners with stories of hope and resilience. As a coach and content creator, I develop workshops and workbooks that offer emotional support and practical strategies for personal growth. My goal is to empower individuals to break the cycle of silence and embrace their healing journeys. In everything I do, I strive to foster a community where every story is valued, and every individual feels supported. Together, we can create a world where love, respect, and empowerment thrive.
What do you enjoy most about your profession and why did you choose it in the first place? What was the inspiration for your company/project?
What I enjoy most about my profession is the transformative power of connection and the ability to ignite hope within individuals. There’s nothing quite as fulfilling as witnessing someone step into their strength, embrace their story, and rediscover their worth. Each day, I am inspired by the resilience of those I work with, and I feel privileged to be part of their healing journeys.
It reaffirms my belief that every story matters and that sharing can lead to profound healing. Additionally, the creative avenues my profession offers, be it through writing, podcasting, or hosting workshops, allow me to express my passion for advocacy in dynamic ways. Crafting narratives that resonate with others and facilitate growth is a beautiful experience. Hearing from listeners and readers who feel empowered by our conversations fuels my drive to continue this vital work.
Why I Chose This Path
I chose this path because I believe that pain can be a catalyst for purpose. My own journey as a survivor of domestic violence taught me that adversity can lead to incredible strength and compassion. I realized that my experiences were not just mine to bear but also a source of inspiration for others. The moment I decided to share my story was transformative; it allowed me to reclaim my narrative and empower others to do the same. I believe that by embracing vulnerability, we can create a ripple effect of healing in our communities. This path was not just a choice; it was a calling to be a voice for the voiceless and to advocate for a world where everyone feels seen, heard, and valued.
Inspiration for My Company/Project
The inspiration for my company and projects blossomed from a deep-seated desire to create a sanctuary for healing. After experiencing the isolation and stigma that often accompanies trauma, I knew I had to build a space where survivors could find solace and strength. My vision was to cultivate a community where individuals could share their experiences without fear of judgment. A place where they could feel a profound sense of belonging.
I am driven by the belief that together; we can rewrite the narrative around domestic violence and trauma. Through my organization, I strive to provide resources, support, and a platform for healing, ensuring that no one has to navigate their journey alone. Every initiative I undertake is a testament to the resilience of the human spirit and the idea that love, respect, and empowerment can triumph over adversity. In this journey, I am continually inspired by the courage of those who join me, reminding me that our collective strength can create lasting change. Together, we can turn pain into purpose and foster a world where every individual can thrive.

What is a typical day like for you?
A Typical Day in My Life
Morning Routine
- Early Start: My day often begins early, usually around 5AM, even though I get very little sleep, sometimes only about 4 hours on a good night. This lack of rest can make mornings challenging.
- Breakfast Together: One of the highlights of my morning is having breakfast made for me by my soul mate, husband, podcast co-host, and best friend, (Yes, I know how lucky I am).
- I feel incredibly lucky to share this couple time with him, connecting before our busy day begins.
Advocacy and Work
- Advocacy: I am passionate about advocating for survivors and special needs families. This advocacy work drives much of what I do, as I strive to create awareness and support within the community.
- Podcasting: I host, produce, and market three top 2% global podcasts, including my new series, “Don’t Judge Me.” As well as “Narc Narc Who’s There, Help I’m Gasping For Air.” And “A Contagious Smile’s Unstoppable.” We also have “A Contagious Smile’s Teen Talk.” Managing this takes dedication, but it allows me to share important stories and connect with a wider audience.

- Content Creation: I invest time in creating digital marketing materials, courses, and workbooks that empower others. Currently, I am also working on my latest book and workbook, which are close to my heart.
Homeschooling
- Homeschooling My Daughter: One of the most rewarding aspects of my day is homeschooling my beautiful special needs daughter. This role brings me immense joy as I adapt learning to fit her unique needs, fostering her growth and development in a nurturing environment.
Community Engagement
- Outreach: I work on organizing community events and workshops, raising awareness about domestic violence and mental health. I focus on making these initiatives accessible and impactful.
- Networking: Connecting with fellow podcasters, authors, and advocates is vital. I find ways to engage with them, even if it requires more effort than before.
Personal Time
- Limited Personal Time: I hardly get any personal time at all. My days are filled with responsibilities and commitments, leaving little opportunity for self-care or relaxation. Especially now that everything takes me so much longer since I became a BEA, Below Elbow Amputee two years ago.
- However, we eat every meal as a family. That means no electronics at the table, no hats and no EarPods. We actually talk to one another and discuss our day.
Evening
- I work up and past bedtimes. I crawl into bed every night with my husband and once he is asleep, it’s back to work I go.

It sparked conversations that needed to happen and encouraged others to share their stories, fostering a culture of understanding and empathy.

Heartfelt and Inspirational Sources of Strength
My Husband: My Unwavering Support
Without a doubt, my husband is my unwavering support and my greatest ally. He sees me not just for the challenges I face but for the person I am at my core. In moments when I feel overwhelmed by the scars and artificial devices I depend on to navigate life, he looks beyond them and embraces the spirit within me. His love is a gentle reminder that I am more than my struggles—I am a warrior, capable of overcoming anything. He stands by my side, encouraging me to rise above adversity and reminding me that together, we can conquer the mountains in our path. His belief in me fuels my own belief in myself, and for that, I am eternally grateful.
My Daughter, Faith: A Source of Light
Then there’s my daughter, Faith, who embodies strength and resilience in ways I could never have imagined. Having faced over 50 surgeries, she has transformed her trials into triumphs, and her spirit shines like a beacon of hope. Each day, she teaches me what it means to fight with grace and courage. Her laughter and zest for life inspire me to embrace every moment and to turn obstacles into opportunities. She is a living testament to the power of hope and determination, reminding me that even in the darkest times, there is always light to be found. Faith’s journey motivates me to advocate for others and to celebrate the beauty of life, no matter how challenging it may seem.
Though my grandparents are no longer with us here on Earth, I think of them daily and miss them with all that I am. Their absence leaves a void that can never truly be filled, but their presence remains alive in my heart. Each memory, each lesson they imparted, continues to guide me as I navigate life’s journey. Missing them deeply is a testament to the profound impact they had on my life. I strive to honor their legacy by living each day with purpose and embracing the qualities they exemplified. I often pray that I am making them proud, carrying their lessons forward as I navigate the complexities of life. Their love continues to inspire me to be the best version of myself, nurturing my relationships and supporting those around me.
