- Add toppings- Top the steak with some sauteed mushrooms, peppers, or onions.
- Cook it on the stove or grill- For the stove, sear your 1 inch steak for 3 minutes on each side. Then baste with steak renderings for another 3-5 minutes. For the grill, Set the grill to high heat for an inferred grill and medium-high for a direct flame grill. cook each side of the steak for about 5-6 minutes per side.
How to Cook Steak in the Oven
- Rinse and pat the steak– As with any raw meat, I always rinse and pat my ribeye steaks dry with a paper towel.
- Season the steak– Now drizzle a generous amount of olive oil over the rib eye steak and massage the pressed garlic over the entire steaks. Now season them with your favorite steak seasoning. I love using Weber’s Chicago steak seasoning for this ribeye steak recipe.
Pro Tip: Make sure you pat the meat dry to get rid of excess water. This will allow the oil and seasonings to adhere better instead of sliding off.
- Pan sear and finish in oven– Sear each side of the rib eye steak in the cast iron skillet then finish them off in the oven with a slice of butter on top.

- Allow the steak to come to room temperature- Let the steak sit on the counter for about 20-30 minutes to allow it to become less cold. This will help with even cooking.
- Check the temperature for doneness- The best way to determine the temperature of your meat is by inserting an instant-read thermometer into the thickest part of the meat.
- Rest your steak- Let the steak rest for 10 minutes before cutting into it to allow the juices to reabsorb, keeping the meat juicy instead of dry.

The secret to getting a perfect brown crust on steak is high heat. When frying the pan in oil, you want to get the pan to at least 285 degrees Fahrenheit. That char is what will give the steak its amazing flavor. This insanely delicious flavoring method is also known as the Maillard reaction.
