Hot statistics on warm districts: Hot drinks can help with healthy aging

I was on Instagram the other day and gave a role in which a woman showed in a harvest roof. She didn’t speak. Subtitles outlined over their middle part as they went on their lips and wagged their fingers into the camera. “Nobody ever suspects my age,” she said. “Because I know these anti-aging tricks.” An arrow appeared on the screen, which showed under the role of the caption. “#1. Drink hot lemon water.”

I have not forwarded because I had upset myself about this woman who didn’t seem to be more than 22. But I was curious. I had other people than anti-aging elixir lemon water hype hype hype hynee hype to Google and typed in a search “hot lemon water health age”. A long scroll of articles, together with a lot of social media contributions, dipped the anti-aging effects of Hot Lemon Water.

When I put around, I saw other publications and social media contributions in which other hot drinks could also help them age well. Tea. Coffee. Turmeric latt. Was it worth one of these hype to buy? Is the youth fountain only a daily cup of bone broth best? I advised myself with two nutritionists from the registered nutritionist to get information that I could trust.

Some hot drinks have anti-aging advantages

Emily A. Callahan, Mph, RDN, founder of EAC Health and Nutrition, LLC, and member of the Health Advisory Council of Healthywomen, is trained for a skeptical eye. It is all too familiar with the worrying state in which Americans are in relation to nutrition. On the index for healthy eating, a tool that evaluates the nutritional quality of the US population, no age group has a number of points of more than 61 out of 100. This is a D -d.

And the beverage industry with its constantly growing selection of drinks that are rich in calories, sugar and saturated fats only makes us unhealthy. But Callahan recognizes that there are actually some drinks that offer advantages.

I spoke to her and Lee Cotton, RDN, about eight non -alcoholic drinks that often served hotly, who have health benefits, especially when it comes to healthy aging.

Lemon (or any fruits) and water

This combination is good for you because lemon is loaded with antioxidants, especially vitamin C. All fruits contain a kind or combination of antioxidants so that you can mix all fruits with water and see advantages. “Antioxidants are important for health because they can prevent or delay cell damage by free radicals – unstable molecules that damage DNA and prevent healthy aging. Antioxidants can counteract them,” said Callahan.

Tea (green, black, oolong)

Various teas can also help with healthy aging. Green, black and oolong tea not only contain antioxidants, but also potassium that supports brain function and can prevent heart disease. Cotton pointed out the advantages of green tea. “Studies show that there are anti -inflammatory properties that have been examined for cancer prevention,” she said. “It has recently been examined that green tea can protect against the cognitive decline.”

Coffee

A wealth of research, including British Bio Chancement, a long -term biomedical research project, which examines more than 500,000 adults in Great Britain, has shown that people who drink coffee every day can live longer. Another long -term study with almost 50,000 women who were followed for 30 years showed that drinking caffeinated coffee can help women to agree better and to stay mentally and physically strong.

Callahan has started the fact that coffee has potassium – a good thing, but also a lot of caffeine and whether caffeine is definitely good for them, it is not yet clear. We know that it has antioxidant properties and, of course, can improve vigilance at the moment, but Callahan quickly points out that too much of it can palpate and cause jitter. She recommended that the FDA recommend not adhere to the FDA for no more than 400 milligrams of caffeine per day.

Kurkuma lattes are becoming increasingly popular and it looks as if the fashion phenomenon has a certain level of health earnings. “They offer an antioxidant thrust and anti -inflammatory advantages,” said Cotton. “[But] Always contact your doctor because he has some medication interactions. “Too much is too much.

Hot chocolate

Cocoa is loaded with antioxidants so that hot chocolate enables a small anti-aging thrust (the darker, the better). “Don’t drink hot chocolate every day, unless it is your only additional sugar,” said Callahan.

Cider

Hot Apple Cider is a favorite in autumn and winter and also has its anti-aging advantages. “It contains potassium, fiber and vitamin C,” said Cotton. However, this is one of these healthy drinks that can become slightly unhealthy due to the sugar. So drink carefully and in moderation.

Steam milk and non-milk milk

Both cow’s milk and many milks without dairy products (soy, almond, oats, hemp, rice) contain calcium, which is of crucial importance for bone health. “Calcium is missing in most of our diets. So it is advantageous to promote this recording,” said Callahan. “Osteoporosis is more common for women, so that calcium is important – especially in our teenagers and 20s when the basis for our bones is determined.”

Broth

Bone broth is the last scream these days, and although it is a good source of protein and collagen and contains small amounts of calcium, magnesium and phosphorus, it is non-laut science that science is currently white-a anti-aging miracle drink. “The popular claims about the advantages of bone brothers for the relief of joint pain, the determination of the skin, improving digestion or strengthening the bone are currently not supported by robust evidence,” said Callahan. “This does not mean that these advantages do not exist, we just don’t have enough high -quality evidence to certainly know whether they do or not. We don’t know how much a person has to drink to experience all the advantages.”

The temperature does not matter – and the real benefit in all these drinks has nothing to do with nutrients

Some people prefer these drinks hot, others prefer them cold. You do you! Regardless of whether you enjoy them hot or cold, you will use the anti-aging advantages (how big or small) of these drinks. This means that if you drink Kombucha, what we leave the list on the way that it is hot to drink a no one, keep it cold. “Drinking Kombucha, which was heated to 115 degrees or more, could damage or kill useful bacteria or yeast so that it would not be a good thing,” said Callahan.

While all of these drinks have their health benefits (some more than others), it is worth noting that the best and biggest purpose that they meet do not age healthy – it is figurative and simple.

“The body has requirements for water and the eight cups of water per day are a myth,” said Callahan. We actually need a lot more. The national academies of US science, engineering and medicine found that the appropriate amount of water intake is about 11.5 cups a day for women.

“That seems to be a lot, but remember, it doesn’t have to be all out of water,” said Callahan. Every piece of moisture you get counts. “It can come from coffee, tea, juice, fruit, vegetables, soups, oatmeal and even pasta.”

So I will probably sip lemon water – but I will take mine on ice.
