Getting Back to Healthier Habits.

5

This post could be an essay; I feel like I have so much to say. This year, I am really focusing on my health. Specifically, weight-lifting and getting enough protein. At 43, I am firmly middle-aged and, at the risk of sounding dramatic, I feel like I am going into battle as I age!

I had been really struggling with my old gym, so I just stopped going. I finally found a spot I liked better. Every week, I see a trainer on Wednesdays and then try to take 2-3 additional “squad” style training classes. They are TOUGH but so satisfying. I am one month into taking this seriously, and I feel really strong. And then I have my Peloton tread (review here!), where I try to do a few walk/runs every week and also walk and work. I finally perfected my walking + writing setup. I have this treadmill desk and then this laptop stand that I place on top of it. (I found I was too tall/my eyes weren’t good enough to use just the desk). Oh, and I’m wearing my Apple watch again (review here!) as I need the accountability. If left to my own devices, I’d prefer to just melt into the couch.

I have found that the fashion scene has changed a bit at the gym. If you care about this, the easiest way to update your gym wardrobe is to add a boxy tee over your matching set, pull up your socks (these are my fave), and wear white sneakers (it creates a nice long, lean line with the socks).

These are some of my favorite things. This vanilla cinnamon protein powder tastes amazing. I usually have it with creatine, coconut milk, half a banana, + some ice after a workout. From the same brand, I love this chicken broth. The yummiest snack (it’s got a little miso in there, too) with twelve grams of protein. (You can use GRACEA15 for 15% off anything at Kroma). And I’d be remiss to forget Sakara’s new supplements. I got to test them early for a sponsored project on Instagram, and I love them, especially the Daily Elixir. I really look forward to it as I love the minty citrus taste.
