The 36-year-old actress arrived at the awards ceremony in a strapless red gown. The gown’s structured silhouette and wide belt exuded elegance, while its deep hue complemented her fair complexion and drew attention to her new and bold red pixie cut.

Her soft, natural makeup, with rosy blush and nude lips, enhanced her radiant glow. The pixie framed her features and added a modern, edgy touch to the ensemble.

Social media offered divided opinions on Stone’s look. “Why,” asked one user, while another commented, “Meh, it’s okay (I really don’t like the belt)—the haircut is cute on her!” Another stated, “How terribly unflattering. Just no.”

Someone else highlighted the charm of her pixie cut paired with an ear cuff, though they felt the dress’s shape was less flattering, likening her appearance to a “pixie dressed as a Christmas gift.”

Another praised her bold choices, “Has she had a pixie cut? I don’t feel I’ve seen this hair on her yet! I love her in red and the ribbon waist is super pretty, it seems a bit over voluminous at the hips so much so it makes her shape look a little unbalanced but it’s cute.”

Stone’s striking pixie cut comes after a series of bold hair transformations in recent months.

According to a November 2024 report from Just Jared, Stone revealed a shaved head during a “Saturday Night Live (SNL)” after-party at L’ Avenue at Saks in New York City.

Attendees noted that Stone entered the party wearing a bucket hat and later removed it to unveil her much shorter haircut. In the following weeks, she was spotted in public wearing wigs to cover up her shaved head, including during outings in SoHo and at the New York Film Festival.

Rumors suggest that Stone shaved her head for her upcoming role in Focus Features’s “Bugonia,” a sci-fi comedy film directed by six-time Academy Award nominee Yorgos Lanthimos, where she stars alongside Jesse Plemons.

The film, an English-language adaptation of the 2003 South Korean movie “Save the Green Planet!” features Stone as a high-powered CEO who becomes the target of two conspiracy-obsessed men convinced she’s an alien planning to destroy Earth.

With its dark humor and ambitious storyline, “Bugonia” is being produced by a powerhouse team, including Lanthimos, Ari Aster, and Stone herself, under her production company Fruit Tree.

Producers Ed Guiney and Andrew Lowe expressed excitement about collaborating with Focus Features and reuniting with Lanthimos, Stone, and Plemons. They also looked forward to working again with the talented crew they had partnered with on previous projects.

Focus Features will release “Bugonia” in the U.S., while Universal Pictures will handle international distribution, excluding Korea.

Stone’s role in “Bugonia” highlights her continued collaboration with Lanthimos on ambitious projects. During the filming of another Lanthimos movie, “Kinds of Kindness,” she even trusted co-star Joe Alwyn to cut her hair, reflecting her adventurous commitment to her roles.

In May 2024, Alwyn shared the experience, “She is also trustworthy. I cut her hair, which just means cutting off her ponytail, but even so!” Stone, in turn, expressed admiration for Alwyn, emphasizing their strong working relationship.

Having collaborated previously on Lanthimos’ 2018 movie “The Favourite,” she credited her co-star’s compassion and support for helping her navigate the darker themes of “Kinds of Kindness.” She described Alwyn as “one of the sweetest people” one would meet.

“Kinds of Kindness” explores complex narratives, weaving together three distinct stories: a man without choice trying to reclaim control of his life, a policeman disturbed by his wife’s mysterious return after being lost at sea, and a woman determined to find someone with a unique ability destined to become a spiritual leader.

Amid public mixed reactions to her changing hairstyles, particularly her latest pixie cut, Emma Stone confidently embraced her new look at the Golden Globes, exuding grace throughout the evening.
