English

A renewed occurrence of ovarian cancer means that the disease reappeared after the transfer or that they no longer had the disease. Although the survival rates of people with recurring ovarian cancer are currently about 3 healthy women about recurring ovarian cancer and its therapeutic options that change continuously.

How much is possible that ovarian cancer reappears?

The recurrence rate of ovarian cancer depends on the tumor stage when the diagnosis is made, your age and factors, which indicate how aggressive cancer, i.e. as its level of malignancy or histological characteristics. The majority of patients with high levels of malignancy receive 3 or 4 diagnoses of the disease. More than 7 out of 10 of these patients will experience the disease in the next five years.

How is recurring ovarian cancer?

Recurring ovarian cancer can sometimes be treated surgically if you had a period of six months or more without the disease and if it does not spread. Otherwise and even after the operation, ovarian cancer is treated with chemotherapy.

What does the term platinum -resistant cancer mean?

Platinous ovarian cancer means that a patient’s cancer reappears in the first six months since chemotherapy with platinum rectivats. Usually there is derivative carboplatin that prevents cancer cells from repairing or multiplying.

Is the different treatment of cancer against Platinderivate resistant?

Yes. In cases of ovarian cancer resistant to platinerivats, no carboplatin treatments are offered. There are many other chemotherapy that can be used to treat platinum resistant ovarian cancer, and many of them are newer therapies. In the past, we have announced patients that chemotherapy has much fewer options if they have a platinum -resistant disease. However, it is no longer on these new therapies and treatment depends on the specific circumstances of the patient.

What are biomarkers and which biomarkers are associated with ovarian cancer and recurrence?

Biomarkers are measurable chemicals in the body, which can indicate the presence or progress of ovarian cancer and their reaction to treatments. A blood test for detection of CA-125 is often used in patients with ovarian cancer, as this can be useful for oncologists to determine what their reaction to chemotherapy records and the recurrence of ovarian cancer records. Tumors can have different biomarkers who identify after the first operation. These biomarkers can influence the initial and recurrent therapy of ovarian carcinomas.

How do therapeutic options depend on the results of biomarker tests?

New treatments are being developed that agree with the Federal Drug Administration (FDA) for ovarian cancer that are resistant to platinum rectivates, and certain tumor biomarkers give us an indication of how patient cancer react to directed chemotherapy. These directed therapies are becoming increasingly common and oncologists determine which treatments they can have based on the biological properties of the tumor. For example, if tumors have a homologous recombination or a DRH deficiency, patients can meet the requirements for certain oral options for maintenance treatments to prevent cancer from reappearing.

Which factors should you take into account if you take your therapeutic options into account?

The first thing your medical provider analyzes when determining your therapeutic options is the type of cancer. For example, the stage, the degree of malignancy, the place and all available information from biomarkers. If you decide which therapeutic plan should be implemented, you should consider how you should tolerate chemotherapy during your first treatment and talk about what changes to chemotherapy depending on this. Be sure to take into account a different medical problem that you have and which activities are most important for yourself. Therefore, you can give him a priority and ask your oncologists whether the tributary of treatment could affect the way you perform your favorite activities. It is also expedient that you take part in a clinical study that enables you to access new treatments.
