BODi has launched the perfect program – LAVA
OMG, I’ve been asking about this since I started BODi workouts in 2016. They have finally launched the perfect workout – LAVA. It’s a power yoga/primal movement program and it’s just AWESOME! Not only is it a brilliant workout, but it’s a game-changer for women over 40 looking for a high-energy, low-impact workout. I tried it and absolutely loved it! Here’s why.
Why I love BODi LAVA
First things first: I have to admit that I am a huge fan of bodyweight workouts. They are perfect for everyone, but especially for women over 40 who want to avoid strenuous exercise but still crave cardiovascular exercise. Let’s face it: weightlifting can get pretty boring after a while. This is where BODi LAVA comes in – it’s strength training that’s really fun and feels amazing!
You never stop flowing in the movements, but don’t worry – there are no crazy yoga moves. It’s all about strength and flow.
What makes BODi LAVA so special?
With BODi LAVA, super trainer Elise Joan has developed a program that combines power yoga with primal movements, i.e. cardio, strength, mobility and flexibility. I love that they are non-stop movements that challenge every muscle within a 20 minute time frame (and yes – you can get results in 20 minutes.
Program overview
BODi LAVA is a 6-week program with a total of 30 training sessions. Each 20-minute workout is different and targets everything from endurance and cardio to strength and balance.
The following is included:
- Length of time: 6 weeks, 5 days a week
- Training time: 20 minutes per session
- Additional training sessions: 5 tutorial workouts “Pre-Burn” and 10 bonus workouts (10 minutes “Bonus Burn” and “Post-Burn”)
You don’t need any equipment for LAVA
The best thing about BODi LAVA is that no equipment is required. If you want to add support or modifications, you can use a yoga mat or yoga blocks, but these are completely optional. This makes it perfect for training at home or when traveling.
Personally, I tried doing the free trial workout (below) with some super light weights (3 pounds) and there’s a little more spice, but it’s a great workout on its own. Trust me!
The workouts
The workouts are themed so you always experience something new. What you can look forward to:
- Yoga hybrid: A mixture of power yoga flow and primal movements.
- Core control: A balance-focused sequence that combines movement with breathing.
- HIIT: High-intensity yoga and primal movement intervals to burn serious calories.
- Endurance: High-rep bodyweight strength exercises for muscular and cardiovascular endurance.
- Connection: Alternating primal and yoga movements for a simple yet challenging sequence.
- Original hybrid: Expands your flexibility while strengthening your entire body.
- agility: Strength and multi-directional movement to build range of motion and performance.
- Isometry: Holding positions alternating with flowing movements for a full-body muscle burnout.
- Metabolic combustion: Intense intervals combined with stabilizing yoga flows.
- Sporty off-road: Elise’s signature power yoga flow to improve balance, endurance and flexibility.
The bonus workouts
In addition to the main program, you get 15 bonus workouts:
- 5 pre-burn workouts: Learn the moves so you’re ready to jump into the full program.
- 6 bonus burn workouts: Quick 10-minute sessions targeting your uppers, glutes and core.

I’m a big fan of mind-body workouts
Elise complements every workout with breathing exercises and mental exercises, so the benefits of BODi LAVA go beyond the physical effect. I’ve been doing yoga for years, not just for physical reasons, but also to relax. As someone with anxiety and ADHD, this is no easy task, but I find that a strong yoga workout with breathing exercises and some mindfulness really does the trick.

I am so excited about this program
