AKT London The Foaming Body Scrub Review
[unpaid/sample] I’m a sucker for a scrub! After reviewing one of AKT’s shower products a couple of weeks ago, I asked to try the Orange Grove fragranced body care and quite soon The Foaming Body Scrub and The Body Conditioning Balm arrived. Happy to say that they both get as many ticks as I can possibly give.
First, the fragrance. Orange Grove is very much about the sharpness of the peel than the sweet juice of an orange. It’s what I would describe as a masculine citrus with orange, sweet mandarin and neroli in a eau de cologne setting. It’s invigorating, cooling almost and fresh in nature. The scrub itself is a blend of rice and sugar with papaya enzymes to add another dimension to the exfoliation process. I find body exfoliators work best if you apply to just damp skin before getting into the bath or the shower – if they’re enzymatic as well as physical, leave it a couple of minutes before rinsing off to give the enzymes fair chance on your past-their-sell-by cells. The foam, by the way, isn’t of epic proportions – just a pleasant amount of fluff to pamper your skin.
The Conditioning Body Balm has the same scent as The Foaming Body Scrub and works as a light body hydrator. It’s not as balmy as other body balms I’ve tried – it feels more gel/cream than balm, but the upside of this is that it isn’t sticky or tacky when on the skin. The fragrance has some last to it although you won’t feel overwhelmed by it. It’s just very much the right amount of freshness for hot summer skin – personally, I find using body balms in the summer quite uncomfortable and crave lightness. The Conditioning Body Balm also contains lactic acid so it’s going to work very nicely to smooth off skin cells that are no longer needed and that are holding back a silky feel. This is how body products should be made – you can pile all the moisture you want on, but unless they’ve got some sort of a enzymatic acid, it won’t give next level smoothness.
I’ve already got this brand ear-marked for gifts for my family – my nephews in particular are going to love it! The Foaming Body Scrub is £44 and The Body Conditioning Balm is £22.10 HERE.
