Air Drawn Dagger conjure epic new release ‘Apparitions’ – LOUD WOMEN

Sheffield’s Air Drawn Dagger just dropped an awesome new single, ‘Apparitions’. This self-described Sasscore (Hardcore and Sassy) band bring you energy, texture and heartfelt lyrics. Out now on Long Branch Records, ‘Apparitions’ will feature on the band’s new album A Guide For Apparitions, slated for 4 April 2025.

“A return to big guitar riffs, it’s time to take accountability for the mess we’re in or accept our fate. On the other side of this song is an element of the hurt, and sometimes anger, you feel once you realise you’ve outgrown areas of your life and belief systems you held onto for so long. Relish in letting go of what no longer serves you, they’ll have to cross realms if they want to reach you. Featuring Tobi from Trash Boat, we knew this breakdown was the heaviest point of the album, the fight scene, the crescendo; and required an extra element to complete this track,”  says the band on the new track.

Exploding into the catchiest of hooks with zero apologies, this track immediately grabs you by the back of the head and forces you to nod along. Maisie’s vocal is as striking and soulful, taking you on a journey from aggression to emotion, building the anticipation through the hollow verse to a more frenetic energy just in time for the chorus to drop.

“Do I repel you now I’ve become what you used to be?
Do you resent me now?”

With some attention-grabbing tempo changes Ross (drums) and Lewis (guitar) create exciting rhythms to keep even the biggest prog fan amused. The crisp snare and crunchy guitar tone bring a almost gothic edge to the chorus which makes the melody stand out even more.

Air Drawn Dagger are up there with Paramore, The Pretty Reckless and Flyleaf – not just for the female vocals but emotion and assertion, taking a stand and making themselves heard with heavy licks under poppy choruses.

Enter Tobi Duncan (Trash Boat) for a guest feature on vocals supplying a grizzly, growly overlay of screamo for the heavy halftime pre-chorus. The contrast works against the female lead. The song absolutely stands up on its own, however, the heavier the better right?
