The Nightmares release melodic gothic synth track ‘Hell Is Gonna Happen’ – LOUD WOMEN
The Nightmares – a gothic troop from Newport, Wales – are continuing what has been a wonderful roll-out of singles across 2024 and into 2025. Their new track ‘Hell Is Gonna Happen’ is a perfect staple track for the band, encompassing their sound in one song: The Cure meet early 2000’s post-hardcore.
There’s a beautiful sense of melancholic peace in this song, with a blasting synth to open that is then softened by vocalists Adam Parslow and Eleanor Coburn, with tender harmonies that slightly uplift the sadder tones.
“A song for those who feel luckless in life”
The video, continuing on their narrative series that accompanied their other singles, is a joyous montage of youthful moments that could be straight out of a mid 2000s teen film, but the cold blue tint cast over it ties it back to the band’s gothic roots and other videos in the series.
Watching the video after listening to the song makes the song feel way more hopeful. While, yes we can feel luckless in life, and lose what we love, we should hold onto it while we have it.
‘Hell is Gonna Happen’ is a beautiful symphony of emotion and youth, and The Nightmares have done a wonderful job of encompassing these feelings.
