Why I Keep Coming Back to the Veronica Beard Beverly Slim Flare Jeans
I first shared these jeans in October of 2022. And then again in December of 2023. And then again in March of this year, this time in black. And one more time just last month. And one thing has remained consistent since I first bought them years ago: they continue to be my go-tos whenever I want to build an outfit around a pair of jeans that make me feel like I look good.
They’re flattering, leg-lengthening, and waist-defining in a classic flare shape that’s not too flared. Just enough to balance proportions without crossing into “trend” territory. They’ve worked through every denim phase — skinny, barrel, wide-leg, loose, baggy — and still manage to look current every single time. At the end of the day, they’re just a classic, flattering fit that stands the test of time and all the changing denim trends. These jeans are 100% worth it.

This fall I’m styling them with some of my favorite cropped layers: Doen’s Anisa Crop Cardigan and CAMI NYC’s cropped trench, plus my go-to suede Staud Moon Bag and Wally boots (yes, they match perfectly). Underneath it all is Hanro’s Allure Bra Cami, which I wear with everything. The whole look feels timeless, pulled together, and just a little bit luxe — the kind of outfit that reminds me why these jeans have stayed in my closet for years.
1. Why I Keep Coming Back To The Veronica Beard Flare Jeans
It’s rare for a pair of jeans to stay at the top of my favorites list for this long, but the Veronica Beard Beverly Slim Flares just…do. They have that perfect mix of structure and stretch (thanks to a blend of 92% cotton, 6% elastomultiester, and 2% elastane) — enough give to be comfortable all day, but enough shape to hold everything in and still look polished. The rise hits right where it should, the pockets are placed just right, and the flare is perfectly balanced.

They somehow manage to make my legs look longer (I’m 5’4″, so that’s always a welcome thing), my waist more defined, and my proportions better overall — all without trying too hard. They’re those jeans I never have to second-guess; I just feel good in them every single time. And maybe that’s why they’ve lasted through every denim trend that’s come and gone — skinnies, barrels, wide-legs, all of it. When a fit is this flattering and this classic, it never really goes “out.”

2. How I Style Flare Jeans With Cropped Knits
One of the easiest ways to make flare jeans feel modern (and keep the proportions right) is to pair them with a cropped knit. This crop cardigan from DÔEN has been my favorite lately — soft, lightweight, and that perfect slightly shrunken length that hits right at the waistband of the jeans. It highlights the high rise instead of hiding it, so the shape stays balanced and my legs look even longer. (And how cute are those sleeves??)

There’s just something about cropped knits with high-waisted denim that makes the whole look feel intentional and put-together without trying too hard, but in this case, I also love the navy with the blue wash of the jeans. It looks monochromatic (and creates a long silhouette) that doesn’t break up the body, so you look taller and slimmer. Or so my mom always says. 🤣

I’ve been pairing it all with my suede Staud Moon Bag and Wally boots — the camel color adds that perfect touch of warmth to the outfit, and I love the patchwork pattern of the suede on the bag. The pointed toe works so well with the leg-lengthening shape of the flares, but the heel is short enough that I can actually walk in them for longer than my taller pairs.
3. Adding a Cropped Trench for Transitional Weather
When the temps drop or there’s even the slightest chill in the air (always cold club??), I love throwing a lightweight jacket over this combo — and this cropped trench from CAMI NYC is such a good one. It has that classic trench shape but with a slightly shorter, boxier cut that works perfectly with the high rise of the jeans (and doesn’t hide the shape of your curves).

It’s one of those layers that instantly makes everything look more intentional. The structured shoulders and lapels add polish, but the cropped length keeps the look balanced instead of bulky. And unlike a lot of trenches that can feel oversized or overwhelming, this one flatters your frame without swallowing you up.

It’s easy to wear open or buttoned up, and I love that it adds just enough warmth for unpredictable fall weather without feeling heavy (and is easy to carry when you’re not wearing it). Basically, it’s the kind of piece that keeps the whole look updated for 2025.

I’ve worn these jeans more times than I can count — dressed up, dressed down, and pretty much everywhere in between. They’re the kind of piece that always makes me feel a little more me. Add a cropped layer, a hint of suede, and maybe a trench if it’s chilly, and I’m good to go. Some outfits just work every single time, and this one? Definitely one of them.
XOXO,
