What’s In My Travel Kit.
I like to think that my travel situation is pretty streamlined. Over the years, as an avid traveler (and now being in a long-distance relationship), I’ve gotten pretty organized. I have a separate set of toiletries just for travel so that I never have to unpack them. The same goes for my cords. Everything is pretty much pre-packed, so all I have to do is figure out (and pack) what I am going to wear. It’s simpler that way.
I talked about this on Substack a while back, but my only big travel purchase regret was buying the larger-sized Rimowa aluminum suitcase to check. The carry-on size is great, but I wish I hadn’t splurged on the big one. It is still what I use, as they repaired it, but it just gets too beat up when you check it. If I were doing it again, I would do something less expensive and more clunky/durable. Last summer, it came off the baggage carousel. It was missing a wheel and the entire corner of the bag! Rimowa repaired it for free, but I don’t think those bags are built to be manhandled the way they are!
Below are my travel essentials. Also, I had to share that I found the next best thing to the expensive but wonderful Co cashmere pants that I love so much: these from J.Crew! They aren’t quite as airy and lightweight, but they are still pretty great—lightweight, super soft cashmere, and a great fit.
