This Puffer Coat & Rhinestone Jeans
Winter is officially here, and let’s just say—it’s cold, folks. Tomorrow kicks off a “prolonged and extreme cold wave,” with temperatures expected to be frigid and downright bitter. Yay.
Some people thrive in winter (looking at you, Shana), but I’m much more of a summer girl myself. I’m not a fan of the cold, which makes finding outfits that keep me cozy in extreme weather a non-negotiable. Luckily, I’ve discovered a few pieces that make braving the chill a little more bearable—and, dare I say, stylish too.
This Puffer Coat + Embellished Jeans Make A Seriously Chic Winter Outfit
Putting together a warm yet fashionable outfit when the temperature drops can be tricky, but I think this look proves you don’t have to sacrifice style for warmth. (Although, sometimes… it’s worth it, like this Christmas present from my kids.)
From a statement-making puffer coat to glam rock-inspired sparkly jeans (yay, sparkly jeans are trending!) and waterproof boots that keep feet warm and dry, this outfit checks all the boxes for cold-weather dressing. (But that Christmas gift? Has also been getting a lot of wear…just sayin’.)

I have to start with the embellished jeans, because once I saw that rhinestone-embellished denim was a thing for 2025, I was downright giddy. These Rag & Bone jeans have just the right amount of edge. The rhinestones add a touch of glam rock to the faded wash—perfect for elevating even the simplest outfit. They’re made from low-stretch denim that holds its shape beautifully, and the straight-leg cut? Classic, timeless, and so easy to wear. (Plus the cropped length is perfect for keeping them out of the snow.)

And after searching high and low for stylish yet waterproof boots that felt more chic than “typical” snow boots, I finally found this pair by Dolce Vita, and I absolutely loved them. The sleek, pointed-toe design gives them a polished look that pairs perfectly with everything from jeans to dresses, while the stacked block heel adds just the right amount of height. And, of course, they’re waterproof—so what’s not to love?

Well… they’re a little slippery. While they keep moisture out, they don’t offer the best traction on snow or ice. If you’re in a wet environment without snow, these boots are fantastic. But if you’re walking on ice, they might not be your best bet. (To be fair, none of the reviewers mentioned the fact that they were slippery…just that they run small, which they do. I sized up to an 8.5 and they were perfect.) It’s such a bummer because I loved everything else about them, especially how perfectly the color matched my coat!

And let’s talk about the coat… OMG. This long puffer from BCBGMAXAZRIA is truly the standout piece. It’s packed with so many thoughtful features that make it way more functional than most puffers out there. The removable drawcord-toggle hood (can easily be zipped off for versatility) and the snap-adjustable side vents that make movement easy are just a couple of details that make it perfect for everything from watching the game at the rink to strolling through a winter market.

I’m especially drawn to the small details like the stand-up collar that keeps my neck warm and the thumbhole cuffs that keep my hands cozy without covering my fingers (I’m always pulling off mittens and gloves to use my phone, and even the “tech-friendly” ones never seem to work for me). The material is soft, stretchy, and the fit around the wrists and thumbs is just right—not too tight, making them super comfortable.

I also love the two-way front-zip closure with a snap storm placket on top, which keeps the wind from sneaking through the zipper. Plus, being able to unzip from the bottom if you start to get a little overheated is a game-changer—because this jacket is seriously warm. (One reviewer even said it’s warmer than her North Face coats… so you know it’s good!)

I also wanted to include a more detailed pic of the cardigan since I love the details so much. It’s soft and fluffy and cozy and warm…basically all the things you want from a cardigan for the winter. I like layering it over my Hanro cami so the detailed stitching can stand out.
The cardigan is currently up to 40% off and comes in a number of colors!
PS – These Free People jeans are 25% off and amazing.
