In my years as a beauty editor, I think I can safely say that 2024 saw the most innovative and expansive year for nails in a long while. From celebrity-led manicure trends like soap nails, cat-eye gels and all things chrome to endless new launches aimed at making salon-grade manicures a breeze from home, we are all in our nail era. Soon enough, we’re entering a new year, and while we don’t think the reign of nail trends will slow by any means, we’re sure it will change. To get ahead of the next wave of nail trends, we tapped manicurist to the stars Tom Bachik for his predictions for what 2025 will hold when it comes to all things nails.
Tom Bachik’s 2025 Nail Trend Predictions
Tom Bachik is the man behind some of the most iconic manicures of the past several years, creating trend-shaping styles on everyone from Selena Gomez and Jennifer Lopez to Hailee Steinfeld and more. So, what does Bachik see ruling the nail circuit in 2025? “I believe we’re going to see a bit of dichotomy in nail shades for 2025,” he says. “Complementary and contrasting shades are what people will be looking for. Colors will be softer and semi-sheer in nature, giving them depth and translucency.”
In terms of what shades Bachik sees trending in the new year, he predicts the consistent rise of coffee-inspired shades like latte and mocha browns, as well as an uptick in “bright and bold unexpected pops of color” through the likes of blues, pinks, purples and peach colors. Another of Bachik’s predictions for 2025 is a steady interest in intriguing effects on the nails. “Effects like shimmers, pearls and iridescence powders will be used like color over natural nails or sheer colors to create even more effects,” he says.
