I’m back in Marquette for the funeral of one of my best friend’s fathers who recently passed away. It brings back all the feelings and memories — that blur of life after my dad died. I remember how comforting it was to see my friends show up for me then, even when I had no idea what I “needed.” So my plan is just to be there for her and her family in whatever way they need. She’s been a friend for 30 years, and I feel so lucky to have this group of women who would drop anything, anytime, to be there for one another.

My heart’s not totally in “sales report” mode this week, but I did find myself using it as a bit of a distraction — and found a few pieces I truly love: this gorgeous pair of earrings (30% off), this pretty lace top (33% off), and this fun chocolate-brown faux fur jacket (46% off). Wear them all together for an easy festive look that still feels effortless.

jacket (s) | pants (6) | tee (xs) | pants (m regular) | cami

ONE: This jacket is kind of the perfect mix between a denim jacket and a barn jacket — casual but cool. I love that it has the corduroy collar detail without the contrasting color (so it still feels easy to style). The dark green wash makes it a little different in the best way. 40% off now!

TWO: Spanx really nails a classic black pant — these kick flares are sleek, flattering, and 30% off (a rare sale!). The high waist smooths everything without adding bulk from buttons or zippers, and the cropped length works perfectly with winter boots. Bonus: they’re incredibly comfortable.

I am not the type of person who thinks holidays should stay within their own little perspective time frame. If I see sparkly lights on the tv accompanied by jingle bells before Halloween I am doing a happy dance. Give me a ghost wrapped as a present with NYE party glasses on, I don’t even care, it’s all joy. Which means things like Anthro’s collab with NewYorkCityBallet & The Nutcracker and TheMomEdit’s Holiday Shop launch are giving me juuuust the right amount of dopamine to keep going this week!!

As for sales, I feel like we all deserve this. I have this in “peppermint ice” headed in the mail to me right now. Aaaand if you’re still blissfully singing along to T.Swift on repeat (me too), but don’t have any orange in your closet, you can now grab this comfy piece for 40% off. Will you be confused as a hunter on Thanksgiving day trying to stay safe? Yeah, probably. But you’ll also be a showgirl.

jeans (28) | pants (M Tall)

ONE: I included these in last weeks sale when I found the *lighter* wash on sale, and I think I manifested MY actual wash going on sale this week!!! If you want the coolest baggy jeans around, its theeeese (ideal for longer legs).

TWO: If these pants don’t sell out this weekend, I’m gonna write an article showing more examples of how I style them within my wardrobe – because I am OBSESSED. Silky on the inside, plush on the outside, lightweight + feel like pajamas. Read full review on them here.

Howwww is it mid-October already?? I swear it was August, like, yesterday. This year has somehow simultaneously been the longest and the shortest year of all time. I spent this week binging on Diane Keaton movies and it made me super nostalgic for simpler times, when I didn’t have to brace myself each morning before reading the news. Looking forward to a joyful, peaceful ‘No Kings’ community event tomorrow. Hope to see you out there.

Well, thank goodness for sales. Anthropologie is having a limited time 30% off fall event sale right now and everything, and I do mean everything included on sale is SO GOOD. Also, Gap (as always) has me hooked with their sales. I’m currently waiting for my 100% cotton navy cable stitch sweater to get here as well as this fuzzy fair-isle sweater in black, both 40% off for their Friends & Family Event.

Sweater (L) | Jeans (27) | Boots (7) | Jeans (27)

ONE: Gap Cable Knit SweaterCitizens of Humanity Ayla Cropped Jeans + Leona Doc Martens – This is literally what I have on right now. This whole outfit is my go-to look at the moment. Simultaneously comfy and cute and ready for whatever the day throws at me. I love this sweater so much, I also got it in navy. And well, I also love the jeans so much, I also have them in the light wash (as seen below!). Jeans run pretty TTS and the boots run large. I am usually a 7.5, but Docs don’t do half sizes so I went with a 7 and they fit perfectly.

TWO: Citizens of Humanity Ayla Baggy Wide-Leg Jeans – I maaaaay be developing a slight Citizens of Humanity “problem.” But it’s not my fault, okay? Because so many great washes and styles are on sale right now at Nordstrom. These lightwash option are a closet staple of mine already and you can see how I styled them in this post here.

Hey, Friday. I hope everyone has been able to enjoy a few fall things this week. Our trees are starting to get really gorgeous here in Portland. There’s a fiery red one just around the corner, right by Olive’s school and it brings me so much joy. For those of you who are able, see you at the No Kings demonstration this weekend. There are a ton planned around the country. My nervous system is pretty shot after all I’ve dealt with this year so I was waffling at first about going, but I feel like this is super important to do. We’re going with a group of families. This will go down in history, so join in your area if you can. Heather Cox Richardson has some really interesting information comparing it to the Boston Tea Party on her Instagram if you need some inspiration and @designmom has great info, too, complete with quotes from parents, elderly citizens + more who plan to go. Xo

The best pajama pants ever are on sale. I thought I had a pic in them but I don’t. Trust. And click through to see an adorable doggo when you click the White & Navy Stripe color. 😂 Gap is having 40% off for Friends & Family event and I want these metallic cuff dark denim jeans please. SO good. Also, pajamas for the whole family are 50% off, too.

Shirt (M) | Dress (M)

ONE: Now is definitely the time to snag the Gap Denim Big Shirt in chocolate brown that I adore. It’s so freaking good and will be a nice switch up from all the blue denim shirts I wear constantly. Soft and yet structured and I just love this thing. TTS for an oversized fit. Skirt | Clogs

TWO: This sporty cute Anthro dress is on sale for 30% off right now and such a freaking cute piece to layer for football season and beyond (thanks to Jess for the heads up!) I’d pair it with moto boots and a denim shacket on top now as it cools down. Check out the navy color that they’ve paired with a striped sweater. SO cute. And that kelly green (I would actually call it mint though) is also adorable. TTS. Also a few Petite sizes left. Hat | Sneakers

I spent last weekend in Montreal and it was exactly what I needed. The crisp fall weather, the gorgeous leaves, French inspired architecture, and the kind hearted nature of Canadians… It was exactly what I needed. And now I may or may not have living in Montreal on my vision board. It’s truly a great city, and one I will most certainly be returning to.

As far as sales go, I am super excited about the Jenni Kayne sale and yesterday I popped into our store here in Nashville to try on some amazing pieces and LOVED everything. 20% off most pieces, and I am planning on going back for this one in particular. Saks is having a spend more save more sale and I am eyeing this top and matching shorts set for my bf for our next beachy vacation. I’m also very excited about adding this to my fall wardrobe! XX – Kat

sweater (l) | skirt (l) | jacket (xxl)

ONE: Jenni Kayne seriously has some stunning colors in store right now, I loved how soft this sweater was, but the real winner for me was the skirt. However, I am still on the fence about it though because the material is 100% polyester. But I just love it so much and trust me the brown is just as good too.

TWO: It’s no secret that I love Avec Les Filles jackets, and this one in particular is my most worn right now. I love that it’s both a barn jacket and a trench and think it goes so well with the things I wear most often.

Hi everyone! Life has been crazy… moving unexpectedly (hooray 🙃) , training for a half marathon, driving all over PA for my youngest brother’s college soccer games, was a bridesmaid in a wedding last week (wow that was already a week ago??). So much to do & so little time. Gahhhh.

Anyways…there’s so much fun stuff on sale this week: aside from Social Thread’s 20% off sitewide sale (see my faves below), Nordstrom has a ton of fun picks on sale. If you’re wishing you got a pair of those FP Moxie shorts – they’re on sale here. Lole’s Piper raincoat is 47% off and won’t stay in stock for long. Loving this under $30 convertible crossbody + this candle set would make such a cute gift.

jacket | jeans | top (not on sale) | skirt | top | socks

ONE: Never thought I’d be an oversized leather jacket girl… until this one. It’s soft, slouchy, and just works – especially with something a little more fitted + feminine underneath (like this one on sale at Old Navy). Both the jacket + jeans are on sale with code FF20.

TWO: This bubble skirt has been on heavy rotation this fall. Sneakers and mary janes for now, but I’m already picturing it with tights + boots once the temps drop. I’ve been loving it with a more fitted top (like above) and oversized hoodies (see slide 2 here). This whole outfit is also on sale with code FF20.

It’s Pumpkin Fest weekend here, which means either GTFO and don’t plan to come back until Sunday evening, or stick around and commit to the seasonal mayhem. It’s a huge dose of small-town, feel-good fun, so we’ll probably aim for the latter, but it’s…a lot. (As evidence: schools around here make it a 3-day weekend.)

Things I’m eyeing in sales this week: this lace tulle corset dress thing – I dunno. It would be SO fun to style in a bunch of kinda low-key ways (like with wide leg denim or silky track pants. These are like Stealth Holiday (meaning you could totally wear them all year round). And – I realize I’m making this reference two weeks in a row – this waxed jacket feels like it would be very Lily Bloom (read: unexpectedly utilitarian cool) over a more feminine dress, plus it’d still be just as cool and easy with all the usual casual pairings.

pants | pants

ONE: Ooooh, adidias Firebird track pants on sale in almost every color. Of course, I’m partial to the black (boring, I know…or is it strategic??) – such a comfy classic that I’m delighted is making a comeback. Wearing a small.

TWO: ORRRR if you wanna lean a little more dressy with them – how cool is this lace version of the popular Maeve track pants!? More of that under-the-radar glam I always love. Special promo weekend, so they’re 30% off. In green or red, too.
