BOO! I’m currently enjoying one of my Grannie’s candy apples that she makes every year (to pass out to EVERY kid who trick-or-treats. It takes her a week to make). If you’re being extra this Halloween too, (witches’) hats off to you! If you’re just handing out some Snickers minis… know you’re appreciated and completely needed. They’re the best.

Happy Best Day Of the Year to all who celebrate! Just got back late last night from LA and have to make a bike handlebar and secure a white blanket today for my costume finishing touches. The theme of the party we’re going to tonight is ‘aliens and outer-space’ so I’ll let ya guess what I’m going as. (We might have named my little brother after this character. True story.) Hope everyone has a super fun time this weekend. Don’t forget to write down those next year costume ideas you’re sure to come up with today (and then promptly forget if you don’t write them down…me every year.) I miss the days of the little family costumes we used to do, but anyone else with a middle schooler knows that wouldn’t happen anymore anyway.
This weekend the sales are starting to pop up even more. This cropped trench for under $100 is a top pick for sure and oooh my black blazer style dress I wore to an event earlier this fall and felt SO good in is 40% off at Nordstrom! Oh and this Zella vest is so good and on sale in pale blue. Don’t love their styling, but I’ve had a similar Zella puffer vest for years that I love so much.
ONE: The adidas Gazelle Bold sneakers in the same tan color I have are on sale finally! They are so freaking good with everything for fall (wrote a whole article on it.) They are also comfy and provide that little bit of height with the longer baggier pants + jeans we’re wearing right now. LOVE so much. Run slightly big so consider going down ½ size unless you know you’ll wear thick socks.
TWO: This cute Bernardo quilted coat with a hood is on sale at Nordstrom right now in black. It’s just so easy, comfy and cute to throw on over everything. I love mine. TTS for a slightly boxy oversized fit. I adore that it has a hood!

We have an action-packed weekend ahead with school parades, Ozzie’s Halloween classroom party (I’m volunteering), trick-or-treating with the kids, and a Halloween party for adults and kids tomorrow night. 🙌🏼 I’m finally getting to wear this sequin fringe dress from Lulu’s (one of my favorite spots for fun, affordable party dresses — just FYI if you’re already thinking ahead to New Year’s). I bought it a couple of years ago because I loved the fit but never had the right reason to wear it. It’s got total Gatsby-meets-flapper vibes, and Andy’s going full Peaky Blinders to match. Then Saturday we’re heading downtown with two of our besties — our first big night out since before the wedding — and I’m so ready for it.

ONE: I fell for the matching top first, but these satin lace pants ended up being the real gems (the top was too big — sent it back). The brown with the black lace detail down the side is so good. Paired them with this featherweight cashmere turtleneck from Naadam — sustainably made, on sale ($158 → $118.50), and ridiculously soft. Been wearing it on repeat since I got it. LOVE both pieces — and the pants are over 40% off in standard, petite, tall, and plus!
TWO: Madewell’s sale is SO good right now — 25% off $175 or 30% off $250+. I grabbed this belt (already 20% off plus the promo!), my go-to huggie earrings (so comfy I sleep in them), and the jeans that literally go with ALL THE SHOES. Might finally cave and get the bag I’ve been lusting after… 👀

Happy Halloween! I may have let the candy gremlin out (me) and worked through half a bag of candy on my own (hello, Almond Joys) late last night. And this is exactly why we can’t keep anything yummy to eat in the house because I am thoroughly not to be trusted after the clock strikes midnight. I tried keeping the candy in my car, as like, an extra step to prevent me from eating it but that did NOT stop the candy gremlin. Time to replenish the hoard before this evening. How good is it that Halloween lands on a Friday this year?! This morning on my run I watched as all the elementary and middle schoolers took off on their bikes & scooters decked out, head-to-toe, in costumes. Our neighborhood backs right up to our schools, so it’s common practice for everyone to use their own wheels to get there (sometimes in a bigger “bike train” with parents + teachers). It’s classic 80s/90s suburban dreams. But seeing them all in costumes with their friends? It was so precious I was fighting back tears.

Super quick one today because I’ve got a purple braid to get back to (IYKYK – and IKYK). The floral cuff on these pumps up the effort of even the most basic jeans + sweater combo. Sizes in this cool blazer are going fast, but it’s such a sweet outfitmaker!! I can imagine so many ways to wear it. And is it too early to snap this up for a June wedding? (Is it too much fabric for a June wedding?) I’m tempted to say who cares because it’s giving vintage Betsey Johnson and that’s a vibe I simply cannot resist. Happy halloween everyone!

ONE: The jeans that kicked off my renewed obsession with straight leg, now under $60. Reviews are unenthusiastic, but I found them to fit true to size, assuming you’re willing to shimmy a little. (Worth it!) Not into the shimmy? Size up one (they’ll be a bit more slouchy). Truly a perfect classic straight jean.
TWO: Will always gravitate toward a trouser-esque jean, and I love the details of the distressed waist on this super high, super wide, super comfy pair – especially since it can be easily hidden away when you want a more polished look.
