The Best Pants, Sweaters & Dresses I Found This Fall

101

One of my favorite things about moving has been the sheer access to stores and shopping that I just didn’t have in Marquette. Back there, my try-ons were mostly done at home — boxes constantly coming and going, piles of clothes to unpack and re-box, and lots of mirror selfies. Now, I can just pop into a store in the middle of a random Tuesday afternoon, try on everything that catches my eye, and if the size isn’t right, I can swap it out immediately. It’s kind of a game-changer — hopefully for both of us!

Aritzia Try-On Haul 2025: The Best Pants, Sweaters & Dresses I Found This Fall

Case in point: this Aritzia try-on would have looked very different if I’d ordered everything online. The pants all run small — like, across the board. I’m usually a 6/28, but I had to size up in every single bottom I tried, from shorts to trousers to skirts. Once I figured that out, though, I found a few pairs that were so, so good and totally worth the effort.

But first…this dress.

Babaton Audience Satin Dress

This dress has kind of become a thing among my friends. On a previous Aritzia trip, three of my girlfriends and I all saw it separately, picked up different versions and colors, and somehow all four of us — with very different body types — ended up buying it. I can’t think of a better endorsement than that.

dress (6, also in mini version)

I originally bought the shorter version, but this time I tried the longer one and fell in love all over again. The drapey halter neckline and low back are such a perfect combo — sexy but still classy — and I love that it shows no cleavage, so it feels sophisticated while still being fun. The fabric has this gorgeous, silky-satiny drape that makes it feel extra special, and the color options are stunning (though you really can’t go wrong with classic black). Just add some nipple covers (these are my favorite), a great pair of earrings, and you’re ready for anything from casual drinks to a wedding.

My Top 3 Aritizia Pants

After falling for the dress (again), I moved on to a few other pieces — and these pants immediately caught my attention.

1. Limitless Pants

First up — The Limitless Pant, because these are hands-down my favorite. They fit so well around the waist with zero gapping (thank you, hidden elastic waistband 🙌), and they’re made from Aritzia’s signature Crepette™ fabric — soft, drapey, subtly textured, and basically wrinkle-proof. The clean, flat front keeps them sleek and modern, and the wide leg gives them that effortless, polished vibe without feeling stuffy.

What really sold me, though, is the fit. These are so good for curves. The high rise sits perfectly without cutting in or creating that annoying back gap (pretty much always a problem for me with dress pants), and the waistband molds comfortably to your shape instead of gaping out or sliding down. Here’s a side view so you can see exactly what I mean — smooth and flattering from every angle.

Sizing note: These run a little small. I’m typically a size 6/28, but in this style, the 6 was too tight across my lower belly and waist — not comfortable. I sized up to an 8, which felt much better. They also run long: here I’m wearing an 8 Short, and they look extra long because I’m just in flip flops/bare feet. Aritzia’s length guide says:

  • Short: for heights 5’3″ and under
  • Regular: 5’3″–5’7″
  • Tall: above 5’7″

They list inseams as running 30–33 inches, but note that inseam varies slightly by size — so definitely keep that in mind when ordering.

I also tried them in white because it really shows the fit even better…but they’re a bit too sheer for me (I hate being able to see pockets). Still, the cut is perfection.

2. Ensemble Pants

Now, before I get to Aritzia’s OG best-seller, the Effortless Pant, I need to take a minute to shout out these Lo Rise Ensemble Pants — my second favorite of all the trousers I tried on. I didn’t think “lo rise” would work on me at all, but I LOVED them. They have that perfectly laid-back, cool vibe with no muffin top. And did I mention…I love them??

pants (8s) | cardigan (s, I’m wearing the cashmere version which has since sold out)

They have a flat front and wide leg with a little shaping in the back so they still fit curves well. Same dreamy Crepette fabric as the other trousers — soft, breezy, drapey, and doesn’t wrinkle, which is always a win. Like the Limitless Pants, they run a bit small (I sized up to an 8 in these too), but unlike those, there’s only one inseam option. The inseam on a size 4 is 30.5 inches, though it varies a bit by size. They’re definitely meant to be worn long — ideally skimming the ground when you’ve got on heeled shoes. (I’m wearing no shoes here, so these would be perfect!)

3. Effortless Pants

Then there’s the Effortless Pant. I honestly didn’t expect to like these because pleats can be tricky, but these are the most flattering pleats I’ve ever tried. They add just the right amount of structure without feeling stiff or fussy, and the Crepette fabric gives them that beautiful, easy drape. They don’t bow out around the belly and hips, which is what usually happens when I try pleats, so I was pleasantly surprised by how good they looked.

pants (8s) | sweater (s)

So what’s the real difference between the two? The most obvious one is the pleats. The Effortless has them, which gives it that classic, tailored vibe and a little extra room through the front and hips — plus belt loops if you like to add a belt. The Limitless (above), on the other hand, has a clean, flat front for a sleeker, more modern look and no belt loops, with a hidden elastic in the back of the waistband that makes them extra comfortable and easy to wear.

pants (8s)

Both have a secure fit at the waist and are made from that same dreamy Crepette fabric, so in the end, it really just comes down to whether or not you like pleats. And if you do love the high rise with the pleats, the Effortless style comes in a cropped pant length (below left) as well as several shorts versions — from micro and mini to mid-thigh (below right) and even a longer length.

Cozy Aritiza Sweaters Worth Buying (My Top 3)

Sweater season is here and I couldn’t be happier about it. There’s just something about pulling on a cozy sweater when the leaves start to change. Out of everything I tried, these three were my absolute favorites.

1. The Relaxed V-Neck Wrap Sweater

This wrap style immediately caught my attention. I love a good deep V, and this one is just the right kind of sexy: low enough to feel a little flirty but not so low that it feels like too much. The fabric is unbelievably soft — a blend of merino wool and cashmere — and the drape is perfection.

sweater (s) | jeans (6)

It’s one of those sweaters you can throw on with literally anything — jeans, trousers, skirts, even shorts — and it just works. Plus, the color options are so good that it’s honestly hard to choose a favorite.

2. The Harlow Sweater

This one just screams cozy fall to me. The Fair Isle design is so good. There are five different color combos, and I love them all. It’s made with soft, extra-fine merino wool but somehow isn’t itchy, which is a rare find for a sweater like this.

sweater (s) | jeans (6, on sale!)

It’s oversized in the best possible way, the kind of sweater you can wear with jeans, but it also looks cute thrown over a dress or even with shorts on those warmer fall days. I’m wearing my usual size small here, but if you prefer a less oversized look, you could size down. I like the fit as is because it’s roomy and slouchy without overwhelming my frame.

3. The Bare Cashmere V-Neck Cardigan

I mean… it’s hard for me to find a cashmere cardigan I don’t like, but the fit on this one is just extra good. It’s perfectly slouchy without feeling sloppy, and leaving the top button undone gives it this subtle, slightly sexy vibe that works perfectly for date night. (Button it all the way up, though, and it’s totally appropriate for more conservative settings.) It’s made from Aritzia’s Bare Cashmere, which is lightweight enough to wear year-round but still has that soft, cozy feel you want from cashmere.

Aritzia Outerwear: The Postage Trench (And Pieces To Layer Under It)

After sweaters, I moved on to a few layering pieces — starting with a jacket I couldn’t resist trying.

This piece is such a fun twist on a classic trench. It’s cropped, which makes it super easy to wear open for a laid-back vibe or tied at the waist for a more structured, polished look. Colors and sizes were limited in store, so I grabbed a small to try on, but I think I’d size down to an extra small for the best fit. The “rich mocha brown” color, though? Absolutely love — and it comes in a total of six neutral shades that are all gorgeous for fall.

jacket (s) | dress (s)

I started by trying this cropped trench jacket over a black dress — a simple, classic combo that works every time. Then I swapped the dress for a matching sweater and pants in the same color. In person, the look was perfectly monochromatic and sleek, but for some reason, the lighting in these photos makes the pieces look like slightly different shades. (Trust me, they match much better in real life.)

jacket (s) | sweater (m) | pants (m)

P.S. The Smooth Matter Pants were such a fun surprise. They have a wide-leg, pull-on style that’s as comfortable as pajamas but polished enough to wear from day to night. The fabric has a subtle, sleek finish that gives them a slightly elevated feel. They run a bit long on me, so I’d need at least a low heel, but the comfort level makes them completely worth it.

Here’s a better look at the two pieces I had layered underneath.

left: dress (s) right: sweater (m) | pants (m)

First up, the Smooth Matter Remedy Dress — and seriously, this one is so good. It’s slinky and sexy in the best way, hugging your curves without feeling too tight or uncomfortable. The ruching is incredibly flattering, gently smoothing everything out, while the halter neckline, open back, and high side slit give it a bold, dramatic vibe (and it comes in 9 colors to choose from…but again, you can’t go wrong with black).

On the right is the Bare Merino Wool Crewneck Sweater, one of those perfect, wear-with-anything basics. It’s soft, lightweight, and has a beautiful drape — the kind of all-season piece you’ll reach for over and over because it just goes with everything.

The Vest Showdown: Pacino vs. Vito

From the front, these two vests look almost identical, but the difference is all in the back. The Vito (on the right) has a halter-style cut with an open back, while the Pacino (left) is more traditional with a shirt-like back that covers the shoulders. (And can we just take a moment to appreciate the names? Pacino and Vito — so good, right?)

pants (8s) | vest (left, 6) | vest (right, 6)

**Sizing note: Both run slightly small. I’m wearing my usual size 6 here, but they felt a bit snug across the chest (for reference, I’m a 34D). I think an 8 would give me a little more breathing room, but unfortunately, that size wasn’t available in store.

The Vito Vest: Details

shorts (8) | vest (6)

The Vito is definitely my favorite — it’s a little sexier, showing more shape and skin, which makes it feel fun and modern. I styled it here with the Effortless Short Mini in Crepette, which pairs perfectly for a chic, coordinated look. The Pacino, on the other hand, would be perfect for more conservative settings or if you just prefer more coverage.

Matching Sets That Weren’t Quite Me

Lastly, I tried two matching (or coordinating) sets that I really wanted to love — and totally did… on the hangers! The designs were unique and so fun, and on the right body type, they’d be amazing. But on me, they just didn’t quite work.

1. The Micro Skort & Bellevue Top

“Micro” really should’ve been my first clue. The fit of this skort was absolutely perfect — until you turn around. One reviewer said it was too short for tall girls, but I’d like to expand that to anyone who’s either too tall or has a bigger booty. From behind, the length went from cute to borderline obscene real quick, which was such a bummer because I loved the idea of it.

skort (6) | top (4)

Which is such a shame, because paired with this longer top, the whole set is just so, so good. It’s chic, structured, and has that tailored-but-fun vibe I love. I sized up to an 8 in every other bottom I tried, but they didn’t have that size in this one. Maybe an 8 would’ve worked? I love the structure of the skort itself (and the shorts underneath make it super comfy).

skort (6) | top (4)

The top is a softly structured sleeveless crewneck with welt pockets, princess seams, and an invisible back zip. I’m wearing a 4 here only because sizing was super limited in store — so maybe this whole try-on was just a case of me squeezing into too-small sizes. With the right fit, this set could’ve been absolute perfection. As it was, I loved the idea of it, even if the execution didn’t quite work for me.

2. The Element Tube Top & Dial Pants

And then there was this chic, structured strapless blouse. It has side slits and princess seams that give it such a clean, tailored look while still feeling modern and fun. It’s made with Aritzia’s (Re)ssential fabric, so it has just the right amount of stretch to hold its shape while still being comfortable to move in. I loved the idea of this one — it feels like the kind of piece you could dress up for a night out or pair with wide-leg trousers for a sleek, polished vibe.

top (6) | pants (6)

I tried it on with these pleated barrel-leg pants, which are expertly tailored in the same structured fabric. Barrel pants just aren’t my thing, and these were no exception, but I loved the structured top paired with the pants and the whole idea of the outfit. On someone less curvy, with a smaller chest, this set could be absolutely killer.

Sometimes that’s just how try-ons go — and it’s still helpful to see the pieces, because if the cut works for your body, they could end up being absolute favorites.

Final Thoughts From My Aritzia Try-On

I’d never really spent much time in Aritzia before, but after this try-on, it’s officially at the top of my list of favorite places to shop. The fits, the fabrics, the quality — all so good. I can’t wait to pop back in to see what’s new… though something tells me my wallet might not be nearly as excited as I am. 🤣 I’ll be keeping an eye out for sales too, obviously!

And if you have a favorite Aritzia piece, tell me in the comments — I’m always down to be enabled.

XOXO,

Scotti
