Snooki knows a thing or two about hair volume—I mean, she popularized the iconic poof. So amika knew who to turn to for approval on their volumizing spray. We chatted with the one and only Snooki about hair height, cosmetic treatments and more.

You’ve had quite the hair journey from poof and pin-straight hair to now. What’s your favorite way to wear your hair now?

“I feel like my hairstyle as a mama of three now is always sporting a half up half down look. I will always throw some curls in my hair so I look somewhat presentable, but I will always want volume in my hair!”

Your impact on culture is so significant. Do you look back fondly on the poof and your other looks? What trend would you bring back, and what is one you never want to see again?

“I would LOVE to bring back the poof! It was such an easy hairstyle for me to throw up, and always made me feel fabulous! I honestly loved every single one of my hairstyles! If anything, I would never get extensions again—too much maintenance for my crazy mama life.”

What are your tricks for getting good volume in your hair?

“Oh, you know I love big hair—bigger is always better! I swear by amika’s Big Hit Shampoo ($28) and Conditioner ($28)—they just make my hair feel so clean and bouncy like it’s got life again. Lately, I’ve been loving the Rising Star Volumizing Spray ($29) from amika, which gets me that Snooki-approved lift I can’t live without!

While my hair’s damp, I just flip my head over and go to town with the blow dryer. When it’s dry, I spray Rising Star all over, focusing right at the root. By the time I’m done, my hair’s got volume for days!”

Are there any cosmetic treatments you’ve loved recently?

“I love getting facial dermaplaning! I’ve always had such a fuzzy face, so when I finally did that I’d never seen my face so smooth and healthy!”

Did you experience any hair or skin changes after pregnancy?

“My hair has always been thick, and it didn’t feel much different with pregnancy. My skin was horrendous during all three pregnancies! I broke out all over my chest and back.”

What is your quick go-to makeup when you need to get out of the house in 10 minutes?

“As a busy mama, I never wear makeup. But when I want to look like an actual human being, I’ll curl my lashes and throw on mascara, rub a stick of blush on my cheeks, fill my eyebrows in and add a smooth, shiny natural lip balm!”
