NY NOW – Featuring Karin Luvaas Jewelry – Gem Gossip
If there’s anything in this world that makes my heart sing, it is when a designer combines her unique love for gemstones with her designs. Jewelry that puts an emphasis on the gemstone is one of my favorite kinds. Karin Luvaas has a deep passion for calling herself a rockhound through and through – she is a GIA Graduate Gemologist and she loves stones with detailed inclusions, color changes, and mineral deposits. I also love how Karin carves gemstones into wearable treasures, from hearts, lightning bolts, geometric shapes and everything in between. She also is inspired by the Japanese artform of Kintsugi, which involves taking something broken and piecing it together with gold, “golden joinery.” Karin creates pieces of Kintsugi with opaque natural gemstones.
