Nourrir Prep Glycolic Scrub Review

24

[unpaid/sample] I don’t know if any readers invested in the original formats of scalp scrubs? It felt like grinding sand into your scalp and was thoroughly unpleasant. The new breed, thankfully, have harnessed the power of AHAs and put them in a liquid which is much more user-friendly. Having been a bit sceptical about the skinification of hair care (because we were all fine with just shampoo and conditioner – Head & Shoulders if necessary for the odd dandruff outbreak or the brilliant Body Shop Ginger shampoo), I’ve finally come around to scalp care as something good that we can all benefit from.

Nourrir Prep Glycolic Scalp Scrub arrived a few weeks ago and it’s something I can easily incorporate into my existing routine. I don’t want to send a poor me message, but trying lots of different shampoos and conditioners can really mess with your scalp. Nourrir Prep is for use before you wash your hair – apply to your scalp via the nozzle (part your hair and apply to the partings so you reach the scalp effectively) and leave it to sit for ten minutes or so before you dive in for the wash. I really like the ingredient list that includes pineapple extract (enzymatic), glycolic acid, Ginseng Root, Lactobacillus Ferment and Salvia Oil. This is a blend that has the right amount of AHAs to obliterate build up, whether that’s from just general oils and pollution or from product that hasn’t been rinsed away from the scalp. It’s a scalp detox, in other words. Created by formulator and lab proprietor, Sean Peters, who needs to step into the light because there’s not a word of him on their website, this one product has made me want to try all the others (shampoo, conditioner etc) and not least because it smells so delicious.

Once your scalp is free to breathe again, so to speak, you’ll find that not only is there less possibility of dandruff, but your hair will feel extra clean and swishy. As a surprise, the Nourrir Prep Glycolic Scrub smells deliciously of coconut (you need to like this smell!) and I wasn’t expecting that because the packaging doesn’t give anything away. Ideally, you’ll do this as a pre-wash treatment once a week – I am loving using it – and you really will start to know the difference between a clean scalp and a not-clean scalp and how everything, including your blow dry, performs better. Because it has some time to sit on your scalp before being rinsed away, the prebiotics have a good chance of making some sort of difference to your microbiome which in turn, leads to a healthier scalp. It’s £23 HERE.

I see that everyone – including Head & Shoulders is jumping on the scalp serum bandwagon – their new serum, DERMAXPRO Scalp & Hair Revitaliser Treatment is more for increasing hair density than anything, but a quick look at the reviews reveals that it seems to be stinging everyone’s scalps. Oops.
