Did you know that your neck and décolletage is one of the first places to show signs of aging?1 Not only because the skin there is actually thinner than the rest of your face, but also because many of us forget to bring their entire routine down past their chin. Oops

Even for those who diligently protect and treat this delicate area, it’s still missing out on a lot of the fancy devices we use for our face. Enter the CurrentBody Neck & Décolletage Mask: Series 2.

Overview

What is it
An LED mask for your neck and décolletage area featuring 3 highly precise wavelengths of red, near-infrared, and deep near-infrared light to target all signs of aging.

Available for
$419 on CurrentBody. Use code GEEKY for 10% off!

Usage Experience

Due to my neglect of the neck area when I was younger and probably poor posture, I’ve got some pretty deep neck wrinkles and dullness that instantly adds 15+ years. Now I don’t expect the mask to reverse everything overnight, but after seeing great results with my face, I was hopeful that red light therapy would make a positive difference.

The neck mask itself was easy to incorporate into my routine since I was already using an led face mask regularly. Now depending on my outfit of the day, sometimes I did have to apply the mask from under the shirt which was awkward at first, but something I quickly got used to.

You can still move around with the neck mask as it hangs securely from the neck, and the controller has a clip attachment. I prefer to relax while double masking, though the neck attachment does make it harder to lower my head to read sometimes.

I’ve also tried the larger strap and worn this mask on my stomach, and I would definitely recommend either lying down or standing up if you plan on using it on your body. Sitting can cause the mask to bend at weird angles, which can be uncomfortable, not to mention I would not want to risk damaging it!

Despite some of these quirks, I really enjoy the flexibility of this mask. It’s easy and comfortable to wear, even if you’re a beauty device newbie.

Friendly Reminder: No anti-aging product will make a difference if you aren’t proactively protecting your skin with sunscreen. So if you want to get the best results, make sure you’re lathering that spf on your neck (and décolletage if exposed) daily!

Before & After

I tested the mask for 4 weeks, which is the minimum time required to start seeing results, though with the face mask I really started noticing improvements after 6 weeks.

For me the biggest improvement was skin tone, similar to results I saw with the Series 2 face mask. Previously my neck (and to some extent décolletage) was always a shade darker than my face, but since using the neck mask, the discrepancy is a little less glaring.

The deep wrinkles also seem to have softened slightly, though it could also be due to the difference in lighting between the 2 photos. But just the fact that I was able to notice these improvements in just 4 weeks is an excellent start!

Geeky Details: Red Light Benefits for the Neck

We know red light therapy works for the face — the neck is no different. It’s still skin, just a bit thinner, often overlooked, and thanks to gravity and tech neck, quicker to show signs of aging. Here’s the quick rundown:

✅ 633nm Red Light + 8300nm Near-Infrared (NIR)

These two work synergistically to helps trigger collagen and elastin production, which improves elasticity and softens the look of fine lines and neck folds.2 For the neck, this means help with structural support and tone — especially important if you’re noticing laxity under the chin or across the décolletage. And for those of us who’ve forgotten to bring sunscreen down to our necks, these two wavelengths can also support the repair of UV-damaged skin.3

✅ 1072nm Deep Near-Infrared (Deep NIR)

This newer wavelength reaches even further into the skin, and since the neck often loses density and bounce faster than the face, deep NIR can help reinforce the dermal layers where collagen and elastin really matter.4 A study found that when used around the thin skin around the eyes, it helped minimize the appearances of fine lines, which is a promising sign for delicate neck skin too.5

Finally a study that used the exact same 3 wavelengths saw improvements in wrinkles, UV spots, and brown spots, all signs of aging we’d also find on our necks and décolletage.6

Veritace Testing

Similar to the Series 2 Face Mask, the Neck Mask also comes with its own NFC card that allows you to quickly see all the tests your specific mask went through. The tests verify that the LED bulbs are actually emitting the correct wavelength so you can get optimal results.

Final Verdict

Pros

  • Can be worn on different parts of the body by switching out the straps
  • Easy to apply and pretty comfortable to wear
  • Independent testing to ensure precision of the LED bulbs
  • The only neck mask featuring 3 different wavelengths!
  • Was able to see results in just 4 weeks!

Cons

  • Depending on where the mask is used, it may be more difficult to move around
  • A high up front cost that’s only worth it if you can commit to regular use.

Scores & Summary

As with all LED devices, you’ve got to commit to playing the long game. But even then, I’m impressed that I’m already seeing some results in just 4 weeks, and am hopeful that I’ll continue seeing results as I keep it up. If you’re already using an LED Face Mask, this is such an easy addition to the routine, and unlike other beauty devices, it painlessly targets your entire neck and décolletage area. Definitely a device I’m happy to have in my rotation!
