New Two-Tone Jewels to Go With All That Butter Yellow Attire

2

If you aren’t already mellowing out with the buttery yellow hue that’s oozing from every corner of the fashion world, it’s time you begin to.From last year’s runways to stores to red carpets to Pinterest’s 2025 color predictions, this not overly sweet pastel seems poised to dominate spring wardrobes.

“A pinch of playful, a dollop of whimsy. Inspired by trends like dolled up, fisherman aesthetic, and surreal soirees, this soft pastel yellow brings warmth to every corner,” says the Pinterest’s report.

The color has been making the rounds for some time, but no moment secured its status like Timothée Chalamet’s ensemble at the Academy Awards on March 2. Clad in a butter yellow leather suit by Givenchy, the Oscar nominee was nothing if not stylish (like it or not), giving more clout to a shade that will define a season.

I’ve thought about how the jewelry world could react to this color. First, I considered the gemstones that would match—and while I love a monochromatic look, the average consumer isn’t going to run out and buy a new pale yellow diamond or sapphire. Since consumers seek to spend smart and acquire versatile pieces, I turned to white metals.

The coolness of a white metal would contrast nicely with this shade of yellow, I thought, and not add warmth to a yellow that isn’t exactly sunny. Still, white gold jewelry hasn’t quite regained its early- to mid-2000s level of popularity (Chalamet wore his butter yellow suit with a Cartier necklace and watch in yellow gold).

Many jewelry wearers might, however, agree to meet halfway—with two-tone metals. Two-tone has been a hot topic for the past several years, and it seems more than ever there’s a growing appreciation (and demand) for it. Two-tone pieces have high potential for longevity, especially when done really well (and all the pieces below are done really, really well), and now its ideal pairing with spring’s big color trend only boosts its appeal.

Here are some of the latest two-tone jewels, to wear with—or without—butter yellow clothing.
