New Arrivals, Outfit Ideas & Reviews
Anthropologie is one of those places I keep circling back to whenever I feel a little…uninspired. Do all the pieces work on me? Nope. But do they always spark fresh outfit ideas? 100%.
This time, instead of wandering in-store (here’s that post if you’re interested), I went down the rabbit hole of their homepage (always gets me!) and ordered a few favorites to test-drive with pieces from my own closet. The result? A mix of surprises, a few meh moments, and—honestly—the kind of fun try-on session that reminds me why I love fashion in the first place.

Anthropologie Fall Try-On: My Take On New Arrivals
I’m a Fall girl at heart. Summer is fun, and I love my time in the sunshine for sure, but when it comes to clothes? Fall is my season. I love the layers, the fabrics, the colors of fall fashion. Fall clothes are cozy and chic and inspiring and warm. As someone who doesn’t feel totally myself in the prints and colors of summer, I feel oh so at home in fall.
So when I was browsing Anthro this time around, I didn’t stick to just basics. Instead, I went for pieces that sparked something and spoke to me: some faux leather, some denim, rich browns, a fun knee boot, and some pieces with classic Anthro vibes (horse print blouse anyone?)
As a reminder for fit below, I’m 47, 5’4″ and typically a size 8/29. I have a bit shorter torso but fairly ‘regular’ length legs, a booty and straighter waistline.
Yes: Maeve Emmy Faux Leather Dress
Fit + Sizing: True to size, offered in Standard, Petite + Plus sizes.
Fabric: Faux leather/polyester lining. The inside is soft as is the faux leather. It was super comfortable. Also offered in a petrol color. So pretty.
Why: This dress is so fun. And the rich brown is a great color for any fall but specifically this year. I love how it looks with the trench layered over it and it would honestly work with any trench. A short dress with a long jacket…yep. Thanks, Cake.
Yes: Maeve Silky Shirt Blouse
Fit + Sizing: TTS with offerings in Standard, Petite + Plus sizes.
Fabric: Viscose (it feels soft and silky)
Why: It’s the British vibes on this blouse for me. Horse print paired with a silky fabric but slightly sporty stripes at the sleeves and pockets? YES please. It’s very Boden (which I may do a try-on from soon, too.) I kept this one and can’t wait to wear it.

Yes: Maeve Colette Full Length Wide Leg Pants
Pants (29) | Similar Sweater | Similar Boots
Fit + Sizing: TTS in sizes 23 – 34; Standard, Tall, Petite + Plus.
Fabric: viscose, linen, cotton, elastane
Why: These are the Colette pants I adore in the full-length version and with the anthro-coined “Magic Fabric” that makes them so great. And my gosh, this color brown is one of the best I’ve seen. I kept these babies no hesitation. They will be my fall pant.

Undecided: Pilcro Denim Trench Coat Jacket
Jacket (M) | Dress (M) | Similar Boots
Fit + Sizing: Only offered in Regular sizes XS – XL.
Fabric: 100% Cotton, not too heavy but not super light
Why: This trench is soooo cool and I wish they offered it in Petite sizing because it was just too much coat for me. It’s a nice weight though and while it wouldn’t be useful in really cold weather, I like that it didn’t feel too heavy on. I’d say it’s a mid-weight denim. I’ll still be contemplating this and wondering if I should try it again and perhaps consider hemming it a bit in the length? Idk. It’s so good.
Undecided: Jeffrey Campbell Reflect Tall Pull-on Boots
Fit + Sizing: True to size. I’d size up 1/2 if between or you need a bit more room for thicker socks.
Fabric: Leather upper, synthetic lining.
Why: These are pretty cute. I was hoping they would fit a little wider at the calf, though. I don’t have wide calves but I don’t have narrow calves either, so something to consider depending on how you want them to fit your leg. I was also a bit disappointed in the leather on these. It felt cheaper in a way…not enough for me to not consider them, but hmm. I feel like I’d just stick with the Frye Campus boot instead, even though the price point is higher.
Undecided: Maeve Shrunken Bennet Button Down Shirt
Shirt (M) | Pants (29) | Boots
Fit + Sizing: Offered in Standard XXS – XL, Petite + Plus sizes
Fabric: 100% Cotton
Why: This is so so cute. Do I need another blue button-down? No. Do I want one with a dog embroidered on it? I mean, yes. But I was still undecided on this guy. If you are in the market for a boxy button-down though, this one is great.

No: Maeve Mockneck Midi Slipdress
Dress (M) | Similar Boots
Fit + Sizing: XXS – XL
Fabric: Viscose
Why: Sadly, this lovely dress didn’t work. It fit everywhere else besides the keyhole opening at the back neck (which was impossible for me to get a photo of) which puckered weirdly and stuck out and there was no fixing it. I couldn’t tell if it was my bust pulling it or the fact that I have a kind of shorter upper body and there was extra fabric? IDK. But I was mad lol. Otherwise, this was so good and I wanted it for a fundraising gala I’m attending soon (the PNW does not really do black tie for anything lol.)
No: The Colette Corduroy Full Length Wide Leg Pants
Pants (29) | Shirt (M) | Similar Boots
Fit + Sizing: Slightly small. Offered in 23 – 34 Standard, Petite, Tall + Plus sizes.
Fabric: Cotton, modal, elastane
Why: I wanted to love these and I love the idea here, but the pink was a little less ‘pale’ than it looked on the site. They also fit pretty snug at the waist, so in this fabric I would have wanted to size up a size. The thought of a pretty earthy pink cord for fall is so nice, but while I typically love this pant, these didn’t fit the bill for me.
