There were a plethora of updos on the Oscars red carpet this year, including Ariana Grande’s ballerina bun and Mikey Madison’s Audrey Hepburn-inspired look, but Megan Thee Stallion took the formal style to the next level with not one but two different updos—and she’s definitely got our vote for queen of the evening in both. The rapper attended several Oscars celebrations, starting her night at the Elton John viewing party and then hitting up the Vanity Fair after-party, and changed up her gowns and hairstyles for each event. Let’s check ’em out, shall we?
For the Vanity Fair party, Megan wore her “hot honey” red hair piled high atop her head and pinned at the crown. Her hairstylist Kellon Deryck pulled out a few little curls from the base of the updo for added movement and texture, then curled the front tendril near her face to match. It’s ‘90s glamour in the best way, especially when combined with the green feathered halter gown and pasties in place of a top. But in true Megan fashion, the inspiration actually came from comics; she told Vanity Fair that the look was inspired by Batman‘s Poison Ivy. (As you know, Megan is a huge anime fan and often draws inspo from her fave characters, so it’s not surprising to hear she was feeling Poison Ivy for the party.)
