Mappin and Webb launches new Marco Bicego collection
Jeweller Mappin and Webb has unveiled a limited edition collection by Italian designer Marco Bicego to mark its 250th anniversary.
The Lunaria range combines hand-engraved 18ct yellow gold with Swiss and London Blue Topaz, a nod to Mappin and Webb’s signature colour. Each piece is designed to reflect natural forms, in line with Bicego’s signature style.
The collaboration is said to highlight the goldsmith’s emphasis on craftsmanship, with all pieces sculpted and engraved by hand.
Bicego, who trained in his father’s workshop before launching his eponymous brand in 2000, is known for creating jewellery with a focus on coloured gemstones and organic forms.
Since its founding, the Marco Bicego brand has expanded internationally, with a presence in Europe, the United States, the Middle East and the Far East. The new Lunaria collection continues the brand’s tradition of pairing vivid colours with distinctive silhouettes.
The jeweller has produced other anniversary collections featuring floral designs from its archive, each piece set with 25 diamonds to represent 25 decades. Another range is crafted in 18ct yellow gold sourced from The Royal Mint.
To mark the anniversary, partner brands have also released limited-edition pieces: Roberto Coin has added to its Venetian Princess collection; Fope has introduced a sapphire version of its Prima bracelet and Fabergé will launch a one-of-a-kind egg object later in the year.
