Julia Roberts’ New Golden-Copper Hair Color Is ‘Giving Glow’

When Julia Roberts stepped onto the Cipriani Wall Street red carpet for the Gotham Awards on December 1, she brought more than her signature charm and a sharply tailored suit—she debuted a fresh, luminous new hair color that instantly became one of the night’s standout beauty moments.

As the new month settles in and the days dim, Roberts’ new shade feels like a deliberate, light-infused moment. Her colorist, Kadi Lee of Highbrow Hippie, says the seasonal contrast was exactly the point. “As the days get colder and darker, hair should take the opposite approach and lean towards sunnier, richer, more vibrant tones to counteract the shift,” Lee explains. “Warmth is the driving factor, and is really universally flattering against a myriad of skin tones.”

Roberts’ new tone—a dimensional, sunny golden copper—marks a soft but noticeable transition from her signature deeper auburn. The effect under the red-carpet lights was unmistakably radiant. “The newfound lightness, especially on the ends of her hair, also provides a major glow and a fresh playfulness,” Lee says.

Paired with loose waves and understated styling, the look felt modern, warm, and quietly glamorous; proof that a touch of golden brightness can transform not only the hair, but the entire mood of a winter red carpet.
