I Tried A 9 Step Skin Care Routine…
[purchase/affiliate] …And I liked it. I’m 100% Mrs Cut Corners if I can possibly get away with it but on a whim, I think while I was ordering salmon sperm creams (couldn’t be bothered to even try them, so far) there was a sachet selection that offered a 9 step routine and I bought it. It’s a K-Beauty brand called Mixsoon which I’ve heard of and probably even tried because I’ve been experimenting with K-Beauty ever since we could look at beauty products from other countries on the old world wide web – roughly about 15 years. I remember being transfixed by the sheer choice the USA had in brand and product while we were still stuck in the claws of Estee Lauder at the department stores. I had a column in The Daily Mail (sorry, I know) called Laptop Luxuries featuring products you could buy from your computer – it was still so rare for brands to have websites so I scoured around things you could click to purchase. Remember when magazines listed an address and phone number for stockists? Because there was no WWW.

The first sachet contains Bean Cleansing Oil – a very gentle oil that allowed me to really massage my face thoroughly and then wipe with a warm cleansing cloth (a Washii Hot Cloth– I swear by them HERE). A second cleanse followed with Centella Cleansing Foam which turned out not to be foamy at all really, but took away the remainder of the oil from my face. Sachet three is Centella Asiatica Toner (you may know it as tiger grass) which is thin and watery, Sachet four contains Galactomyces Ferment Essence – a form of yeast from fermented sake that feels exactly like a toner. The Bifida Ferment Essence for barrier strengthening as sachet five felt exactly the same as sachets three and four and my face, by this time, was just wet and wetter still after sachet six, Soondy Centrella Asiatica Essence, which is for redness soothing and I definitely needed it because my face was starting to be a bit pink but not uncomfortable (see below).

Sachet seven is Bean Essence which feels micellar-like, and Sachet 8 is Bean Cream that then feels like manna from the gods on the skin. It’s soothing and rich, super softening and I’ve now bought some because I want to use it again. Sachet 9, which I used the following morning, is Centella Sun Cream SPF50 – lighter than Bean Cream but very nourishing.

The routine is based on cleansing, soothing and nourishing and I must admit my skin felt very ‘post-facial’ after I’d finished. The next morning (above), my face looked glowy and awake. I’d repeat this process in a heart-beat but I couldn’t do it every day – it felt nurturing and healing and something kind for when you need to pay attention to yourself and your skin. I wish, in hindsight, that I’d taken more time with it rather than see it as a ‘get through’ exercise in front of the TV with a Washii at my side and I’m re-ordering for that reason. The sachet set is £3.74 HERE. It’s from the YesStyle website where I frequently buy products.
