Glass French nails are a modern view of a timeless classic

105

There are very few nail designs that passed the test of the time like the modest French manicure. Its charm is undeniable in its versatility and reserved nature. The classic combination of a clean pink base and crispy white tips becomes an abbreviation to look together.

While some similarly enriched nails look like this season that look popular (think of chic princess nails and milky white manic doors, to name just two), I would argue that this summer borders maximum manicures. But between the polka points, strips of beach cloth and Italian summer designs, a modern shoot appears on our favorite minimalist style.

Enter: the manicure “Glass French”.

This style gives a classic look a touch of shimmer and shine and replaces a familiar neutral basis, but replaces this solid white lace with a dazzling cat eye effect that catches the light like glass. One for the die-hard French manicure fans or those who are looking for a playful summer upgrade. Here you will find everything you need to know about the trend.

What are glasses of French nails?

Imagine the “Glass” Schanzer manicure as a contemporary turn of a classic look that switches the classic white tip with a reflective, glassy effect. “It’s like a French manicure with a futuristic turn,” explains Michelle Humphrey Michelle Humphrey. “Instead of the usual opaque white lace, it has a sheer or dimensional effect that imitates glass or crystal.”

While many nail artists use a cat eye gel to nail this look, there are other swaps that you can make to give the same highly written, shiny finish. “You could try to exchange the classic white French tips for magnetic, joint or even chrome surfaces that catch the light,” says Sophia Stylianou.

How do you create the French glass manicure?

While there are a few different ways of creating this characteristic glass tip, Humphrey swears by using a cat eye angel for the effect, starting with a pure pink color as a neutral basis. “As soon as it is applied and before healing I use a magnet to pull the metallic pigment in the cat eye angel into a curve that mimics the shape of the nail smile line,” explains Humphrey. As soon as it is defined, she then layers a pure chromy powder to add this trademark. Are you not sure which color you should choose? “For the summer, soft gold men, champagne silver and rose quedic tones are sweet, while deeper smoky chrome such as hematite, velvet green and sapphire give a more atmospheric melted atmosphere,” she says.

If you want to revive the French glass mood without UV lamp, there are some ways to achieve a similar look. “Start with a mere or jelly color as a base and then apply a magnetic effect or chrome color polish to the tips for a look that still has this characteristic shimmer and the light-reflecting finish. Coat like Essie Gel Couture Deck Copp, $ 13, required for a polished, glass-like finish without UV lamp,” says Humphreys.
