Ejae x Billboard Women in Music Awards: Hair Look Breakdown
At the Billboard Women in Music Awards, Ejae celebrated a major moment alongside Rei Ami and Audrey Nuna as they accepted the “Women of the Year” award as members of HUNTR/X from K-Pop Demon Hunters. For the occasion, Anh Co Tran styled Ejae in an elevated ponytail with soft texture and voluminous waves. Here’s how he created the look for the event.
Step 1. Prep
Anh began on damp hair, applying two palmfuls of Milbon&’s Monochromatic Froth Blowout Foam throughout the hair from roots to ends. The lightweight foam helped create body while smoothing frizz and providing long-lasting hold for the style.
Using the Dyson Supersonic Hair Dryer, Anh first rough dried Ejae’s hair before smoothing the blowout with the concentrator nozzle and ATO Round Brush No. 4. This technique added subtle lift and body at the roots while maintaining a polished finish.
Once the blow dry was complete, Anh detailed her face-framing pieces using a ⅛-inch straightener to softly refine the hairline and create a clean finish around the face.
Step 2. The Ponytail
To establish the foundation of the look, Anh first gathered the lower section of hair into a ponytail, positioned at the upper-middle area of the head.
Using additional Monochromatic Froth Blowout Foam with a comb and brush, he smoothed the hair upward into the ponytail to create a controlled finish.
Anh then refined the surface using a rat tail comb to smooth out any bumps and sealed flyaways with Milbon’s Flex Memory Hold Hairspray 7.
Next, he gathered the remaining top section of her hair into the existing ponytail, once again directing the hair with more Froth Blowout Foam for a sleek shape.
Step 3. Volume & Texture
With Ejae’s ponytail secured, Anh installed a 22-inch wrap ponytail extension in shade 1B from The Hair Shop to add extra fullness and length to the ponytail.
He secured the extension with bobby pins before wrapping a section of hair around the ponytail base, refining the finish with another mist of Milbon’s Flex Memory Hold Hairspray 7.
To create movement and texture, Anh styled the ponytail using a 1.25-inch Marcel curling iron, alternating between his signature Nu Wave and Lived-in Wave techniques.
After curling, he layered Milbon’s Weightless Dry Texture Spray 4 throughout the ponytail’s soft waves and lightly teased sections to enhance volume and airy texture.
Step 4. Finishing the Look
To finalize Ejae’s style, Anh added one last mist of Milbon’s Weightless Dry Texture Spray 4 for extra texture and separation.
He then detailed the top of the ponytail using Milbon’s Firm Hold Shielding Hairspray 10 to smooth flyaways and lock the entire look into place for the evening.
The Final Result
Ejae’s fresh, voluminous style felt worthy of such a golden moment on the red carpet. Her soft waves and airy finish perfectly complemented HUNTR/X’s exciting win at the Billboard Women in Music Awards.
