Dreem Distillery Night Drops Review
[unpaid/sample] Billed as high strength Ingestible CBD, this is the first CBD product I’ve written about, preferring to keep the whole CBD world off my website. However, after I tried the Whatsupp.co Dip Out Patches HERE, the founder of Dreem Distillery contacted me (they’re friends) to offer a trial of the Night Drops. If you read my post about the patches, the most profound thing they did for me was to allow me to wake up peacefully. It was just a lovely way to wake up – relaxed and happy. They didn’t stop me waking up in the night, but they did allow me to fall back to sleep more easily. I would say the same applies to the Dreem Distillery Night Drops – it’s a more peaceful sleep, calmer and gentler although I still wake up a couple of times in the night.
I think it’s actually the cause of your sleeplessness that dictates how well you might respond to CBD as a sleep aid. It’s not a miracle cure but it is an aide to restlessness. I used to wake up many times in the night, bang awake, sometimes taking an hour to go back to sleep. I’d say that through my life I have had mixed sleep – I can go back a few years to sleep related blog posts and I am sleeping like a baby, and yet, as time has gone on, I’ve fallen into a pattern of wakefulness. When I had a full on anxiety attack, I took Nytol, which is like being hit on the head with a hammer. But, at the peak, even that didn’t work for me. At the edges of anxiety, both pre and post, they were more helpful. The thing about anxiety and wakefulness is that the sleeplessness comes at a time when you desperately need to sleep – and yet, waking on the hour, every hour, checking the clock, putting on a hour long podcast, then another and another, before eventually letting go becomes part of the anxiety itself. I can honestly say that since taking Night Drops, I have not clock watched or got past half an hour of a podcast because the drops act as a blanket – I know I’ll fall back asleep so I don’t worry about it. I put 6 or so drops under my tongue when I get into bed and allow the CBD to do its work over half an hour or so. I know it’s terrible sleep hygiene, but I usually watch something very undemanding for half an hour on my iPad and then drift off that way. If I wake, I don’t want to spend time worrying about being awake, so I pop on an equally undemanding podcast, but usually I barely get five minutes before I nod off.
When I look at studies into CBD, there still isn’t enough official evidence or research that indicates that it can be helpful for insomnia although again, the cause of your sleeplessness is likely, in my view, to determine how helpful it is. If you are full on anxiety sleeplessness, I doubt it will touch the sides – but again, everyone is different. Away from sleeplessness, I met a friend who also has anxiety and we often catch up on where we are with it and we were both saying that we can regularly feel as though we are going to tip, but don’t, which indicates that our ability to tolerate anxiety has gone up a notch or two. I don’t know if, without CBD, that would be the same but my inkling is that that is where the CBD drops are truly helping me – in managing life without tipping. I haven’t, for the month and a half or so that I’ve been taking Night Drops, felt any tipping points at all and there have definitely been some triggers recently. I would say, overall, I am calmer with the drops than without. I start the day calm and I finish the day calm. All of this said, I couldn’t definitively say that CBD is the thing – I mean, it could be coincidence but my gut says it isn’t. Dreem Distillery is expensive – 30ml is £160 (£120 if you become a subscriber for regular bottles) to last about 3 months (and for now I have a code BEAUTY20 for 20% off HERE), but ironically, it’s non-drowsy meaning if you need to take it during the day you can. It’s not the CBD that helps you sleep, it’s the relaxed state you may find yourself in. I know there was a time I would have paid any money to feel less anxious so the chances are that when my (gifted) bottle runs out I will buy it. I’m still using my patches but less frequently – some nights, I double up!
I’m still not going to be chewing on CBD gummies and have NO TIME at all for CBD in face cream – avoid, avoid. Pointless and a marketing dose that will not anti-age or extra moisturise you. If you do decide to find a CBD oil, ensure that it is strong enough, like Dreem Works Night Drops (2400mg), to have a chance of helping you.
