This exclusive anniversary event features some of Erno Laszlo’s most beloved skin-care essentials, including the customized rituals originally developed by Dr. Laszlo for Hollywood icons like Marilyn Monroe, Audrey Hepburn and Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis.

One of the most iconic stories? In the 1950s, the New York–based dermatologist developed the original Phormula 3—a custom-crafted, reparative treatment made in small batches and tailored to the unique needs of each client. Among its most legendary iterations was Phormula 3-8, created specifically for one of Dr. Laszlo’s most cherished Hollywood clients, Marilyn Monroe. Designed to help fade an appendectomy scar on her abdomen, the formula became part of her personal skin-care ritual. Her praise was unforgettable: “Erno Laszlo not only heals my skin, but he soothes my soul.”

Hepburn shared equally solid of feedback: “I owe 50 percent of my beauty to my mother, and the other 50 percent to Erno Laszlo.”

“With Audrey’s strong presence in the film industry, she unlocked the key for a makeup look that not only looks great on camera, but lasts all day: a perfected skin-care routine,” says Patricia Schuffenhauer, chief product officer at Erno Laszlo, who tags Hepburn’s routine as truly timeless. “As we’ve continued to see in the beauty industry, consumers are understanding the importance of a proper, hydrated base of the skin to achieve a radiant glam.”

Schuffenhauer also says today’s “trends” are rather reminiscent of Hepburn’s style. “We’ve also seen a resurgence of minimalistic and clean girl makeup, showcasing Erno Laszlo’s products like the Shake-It Tinted Skin Treatment ($56), used by Audrey as a symbol of timelessness in the beauty category.”

Some other familiar names who relied on the doctor’s scientific approach and bespoke prescriptions: Ava Gardner, Cary Grant, Marlene Dietrich and John F. Kennedy.
