I can’t believe we’re (well) into August! Summer has absolutely flown by. Between travel, work stuff, and trying to soak up every bit of sunshine and life, it’s all been a bit of a blur. Right now, I’m gravitating toward easy, breezy beachy sets: the kind of thing you can throw on without a second thought and still look effortlessly pulled together.
I always say this, but the versatility of a matching set just can’t be beat. Wear the pieces together for a coordinated look, or mix and match with your existing wardrobe for double (or triple!) the outfit potential. Here are a few current faves I’m loving for this end-of-summer stretch—whether you’re heading to the beach, running around town, or sneaking in an early dinner al fresco.

Beachy sets for the end of summer
These are, in my opinion, the best end of summer sets. For when you want something light, something cozy, or something a bit more dressed up.
Lightweight Fabrics
- Part of what makes this set (top, skirt) from The Great so . . . great is how lightweight the fabric is. It’s whisper thin, and does not show sweat. Perfect for the Charleston humidity.
- I just got this pretty top from Hunter Bell and am convinced that I need the matching shorts. Super light and versatile (and in a color palette I’ll wear all the way into November)
- This whipstitch set from Tuckernuck (top + shorts) is lightweight and easy. I live in sets like this right now!
Cozy Knits
- Minnow’s knits are so cozy and cool. I love these striped shorts with the (subtly) matching sweater.
- This crochet set (top, shorts) in a perfectly neutral army green is a great basic! Like a sweatsuit but way cuter.
- Another gem from Tuckernuck. Katie Sturino wore this top + skirt set to the book party I hosted for her (see it in this reel!) and I’ve been thinking about copying her.
Pretty details that can transition to dinner
- I adore this Sea set (tank + skirt). I have a dress with a similar motif, and it’s a favorite.
- I just got this Cleobella set (top + skirt), and love it so much. It would work for literally any situation, be it a picnic in the park or a romantic dinner date.
