Ballet Flats, Cozy Fleece & The Coolest Denim Bag: Weekend Finds

I’m happy to report that we’ve already made the most that we can out of October: Terror Behind The Walls. It was scarier this year, but so bananas fun to go in a group. I am NOT a haunted house person, but I will 100% go behind someone, clutching their sweatshirt, and shuffle along with my eyes closed. Foolproof!
Of course, this was also the weekend that Raines took the SAT and then hightailed it to the suburbs to run in a cross-country race. Let me tell you: after running around in the hot sun all day shouting out his mile splits I AM EXHAUSTED. haha
If the news has got you down (BAH HAHA “got you down” HA HA HA SOB) then maybe you might also benefit from @amandasmildtakes little “family meeting“. The one where she pulls us all together to remind us – and I quote – “actual resistance is long and slow and boring”.
Don’t lose hope, Gang. Deep breaths. A distraction or two. And then find your local organizers. (She actually has some pretty concrete action steps to take, too.)
These flats are genius: Naturalizer Studded Ballet Flats. Not only do studded flats in general make all of my baggy jeans look cool & intentional (rather than just sloppy), but this particular pair boasts mixed metals. Look closely: the studs are silver AND gold.
Years later, I’m still wearing: My old Vuori fleece jacket in ivory. While my exact jacket is long gone, Vuori now has a really similar one (and – oh hey – so does Athleta). I can’t believe how often I’m still wearing it – there’s something about ivory fleece that has managed to be really darn useful (and feels pretty chic).
How bout some outfit inspo: This whole look. If you don’t want to spend $400 on a shirt(!!!) but still want menswear-inspired tailoring + playfully feminine details (I mean, they nailed it) I’d try either this Zara shirt or this Other Stories one.
Actually…this AGoldE button-up would also work. At first glance you might miss the flirty details, but the shape is…really unique and special.
Get thee to The GAP: This CashSoft Faux-Fur Collar Zip Cardigan would make one HECK of a going-out jacket. Ooooo….pair with these cool cuffed jeans in that dark, dark wash.
Well, shoot. I’ve been hoping that Freda Salvador would restock my beloved black mesh ballet flats, but they put the few remaining sizes on sale, so it’s not looking good. It’s time to emotionally move on. I think these crochet mesh ones are the closest thing to the pair I have (more sizes at Saks or Revolve – and on sale).
Mama’s got a new bag. I typically carry old bags over and over and over again, and while I loved how all of my outfits look with this JW Pei bag (in denim)…we’re two years in and I’m still annoyed by how it opens. (Note: it’s basically fine, but I guess I just never want to lift a flap – I want to unzip.) I just found a replacement and it’s freaking GREAT. You’ll be seeing this one for the next several years: Clare V’s Lune bag in denim (also at Evereve). That color is sold out at ClareV.com, so when it’s gone, I think it’ll actually be gone.
The prettiest little top: this one. There’s an almost Victorian vibe that feels really special.
I’ve been working on the cashmere guide for 2026…and this sweater is, in fact, one of the very best. I put a sneak peek of the top 7 cashmere sweaters for 2026 up on Discord (in the #newsletter-picks channel!).
All I want for Christmas (or birthdays or Mother’s Day) is this Loewe candle. I knew it made a splash last winter, but didn’t realize how freaking good it really was until I smelled it myself. Done. I’m done. Abby had brought it into the office and I literally couldn’t concentrate on anything else – am WILDLY obsessed.
For the puppers: we finally tried BarkBox for Nieve, and it’s SO RIDICULOUSLY CUTE. She (and I) looove it. Our first box’s theme was Tokyo – it was, again, ridiculous. (In the best possible way, obvi.)
One more: The cool, designer-looking water & food bowls we got for Nieve are currently on sale at Amazon (we have the yellow).
Enjoy your weekend…
xo,
S
