Baby Said drop new single, Dead to Me – LOUD WOMEN

3

Portsmouth’s Baby Said are back with a superhot new single ‘Dead to Me’ – the latest taste of debut album BS, promised for 7 March.

The LOUD WOMEN Fest 2024 alumni are Italian/Punjabi sisters Veronica (20) and Jess (18) Pal, who take their band name from a song by the band who first inspired them, Måneskin.

Speaking on the track the band say,

“When arriving at the writing session we began messing around on guitars/bass, and that’s when Jess found the ‘Dead to Me’ riff. Jess began to start writing the lyrics with a darker narrative, finishing them one day on the train home from college. Whilst Veronica was in the middle of creating her solo, Jess thought it would be a cool idea to incorporate the signature psycho instrumental phrase (the knife) that you would hear in horror movies.

During a rare break, Veronica played them a voice recording of a chatty duck she recorded in Scotland, which then led to them sampling it and putting it at the end of the track. For the guitars/bass, this needed to be heavier to match the theme of the lyrics, so tried a lot of different pedals, and then with the three-part harmony in the chorus we wanted pretty vocals to contrast the not so pretty lyrics.”
