Anh Explains: His Trick for Lifted Roots
Do your roots fall flat? Are you looking for more movement and lift? Anh Co Tran shares his everyday trick for creating airy, long-lasting lift at the roots, and it starts with the right finishing product.
One of Anh’s favorite products for building lift is Milbon&’s Monochromatic Puff Finishing Paste. While it may look like a traditional styling paste, Puff makes it easy to add cushion, texture, and movement to the hair.
What Makes Puff Different?
Puff is designed to create texture and cushion without weighing the hair down. Its formula contains powder particles that help create space between the strands, giving the hair an airy, cushioned, matte finish.
Anh especially loves Puff for hair that feels heavy and lacks natural movement, as well as fine hair that tends to fall flat. He uses Puff across a wide range of hair types and textures, applying it at the roots for targeted lift or throughout the hair wherever texture and movement are desired.
Anh shares, “Think of Puff like a dry shampoo or texturizing spray in a paste form.”
How Anh Applies Puff to the Roots
Anh most often uses Puff on dry hair as a finisher, applying it directly to the roots where he wants to create more lift and movement. Because the formula is lightweight and buildable, you can start with a small amount and add more as needed.
For an even application, Anh recommends emulsifying the paste first in your hands. Start with a pea-sized amount of Puff and work it between your palms until it spreads evenly across your hands. This helps distribute the product more evenly through the hair rather than depositing too much in one spot.
Once the product is emulsified, massage it directly into the roots, working it through the hair to create cushion and lift.
The finished result is airy, bouncy texture that gives the roots more body without making the hair feel stiff, heavy, or crunchy.
The best part is, you don’t have to be afraid of using too much. The same goes for the styling products throughout the Monochromatic Collection. Puff is incredibly versatile and buildable, making it easy to start with a small amount and layer until you achieve the amount of lift and texture you want.
