This swing is something that Batula does not take for granted. Not too long ago, even routine parts of travel – packing a bag, getting out of the door and creating the airport – felt paralyzing. “I would get out of things or just lie in bed and tell Kyle [Cooke] I couldn’t even start grabbing because I was so overwhelmed. “After Batula diagnosed depression and anxiety in 2023, he started with a psychiatrist and taking antidepressant medication. I can throw a bag together. It is just so much easier,” says Batula.
