Dianna Singh: The Beauty Editor Who Launched a Caftan Line

107

One of the trickier parts of running this blog is trying to please everyone. “That’s too expensive!” or “Cute, but it doesn’t come in my size!” are two of the most common pieces of feedback Carly and I receive. Believe me: we take it as a challenge. We each spend hours every week scouring the internet for cool clothes under $200 that we’d want to wear (and that come in a full range of sizes). I wish it weren’t such a tricky combination to find, but often a lower price means lower quality (or not so great business practices), and many smaller designers don’t offer extended sizing.

This isn’t too complain; it’s context for why I’m so excited about today’s find. When I discover a brand that makes well-made pieces at accessible prices and offers inclusive sizing? I’ll actively cheer at my desk! And when that brand’s focus is caftans? OMFG.

Dianna Singh Caftans

Meet my latest obsession: Dianna Singh! If you read Allure, you may already know Singh as the magazine’s Features Director. She’s spent over a decade as a beauty editor (at Allure, InStyle, Marie Claire, and more), bonding with women over the satisfaction that comes from finding the perfect mascara or red lipstick. Last year, she decided to bring that same joy to clothing, launching an eponymous line of caftans and matching sets designed to be as confidence-boosting and easy to wear as your favorite beauty product.

The pieces are cheerful but unfussy, statement-making but wearable. The mission? In her own words: “to bring joy back into your closet.” The brand’s imagery feels fresh and relatable. The models look like people I’d want to be friends with and the fabrics have that drape and movement you want in a fabulous caftan. Prices are generally under $200, with a sizing system designed to be simple:

  • Size 1 fits 0–12
  • Size 2 fits 12 and up.

(Just like a bold lipstick, a caftan always fits and makes me feel a little more like me!)
