Emily Breeze skewers age-gap dating with strings, sass and savage wit on ‘Dating a Model’ – LOUD WOMEN

90

Pop-noir priestess Emily Breeze returns with a knowing wink and lush strings in tow, unleashing her latest darkly glittering single ‘Dating a Model’ – and we are obsessed. Lifted from her hotly anticipated third LP Rats in Paradise (out 11 July via Sugar Shack Recs), this is Emily at her sharpest, her sassiest, her most silk-gloved middle-finger best.

Inspired by that iconic line from The Mrs Merton Show directed at the lovely Debbie McGee – “What first attracted you to the millionaire Paul Daniels?” – Breeze flips the joke and lands it straight in the absurd world of modern dating. It’s a bittersweet, string-soaked slow-dance of red flags, savage observations, and deadpan glamour.

Production sparkles, the band is tight, and Breeze’s vocal is pure velvet laced with venom. Somewhere between Serge Gainsbourg, Self Esteem, and a bored Debbie Harry with receipts, this one is for the beautifully broken, and the poor souls dazzled by their chaos.

Breeze has always been a national treasure in waiting – and on ‘Dating a Model’, she’s not just holding up a mirror. She’s smashing it, laughing, and using the shards to write lyrics.
