Sabrina Carpenter has established herself as a full-glam kinda gal. Her hair and makeup are never just done, they are done. Like, there’s literally nothing left to do because she’s doing it all. But, like so many of us, when she’s feeling under the weather, she chooses resting up over making up. Relatable. What isn’t relatable—to me at least—is how the pop star’s skin looks not only without her makeup but while sick.
Carpenter posted a make-less selfie to her Instagram Stories on Tuesday, March 11, along with the words, “I am sick like a dog but I can’t wait for tonight Glasgow,” seemingly promising her Scottish fans that she’ll rally before her concert.
We see only a hint of hair—a little bit of fringe peeking out from under a leopard-print headscarf. (It’s giving Grey Gardens meets “I’m going for a ride in my convertible 1960 Chevy Impala.”) But as intentionally or unintentionally stylish as her accessorizing situation may be, I can’t stop staring at her skin. (So it’s a good thing she can’t see me back through the photo because that would be really awkward.)
I’m going to need the singer-songwriter to drop her skin-care routine because if it’s producing this kind of barefaced glow while unwell, the gatekeeping must end. Instead of dark circles, her under-eyes are somehow gleaming…? While my lips are typically pale and dehydrated when I’m sick, hers are pink and pillowy. And can we talk about the smooth canvas on which there appears an adorable smattering of freckles?
