Givenchy L’Interdit Couture Volumising Mascara

[unpaid/sample/affiliate/ad] It used to be said that if you wanted to guarantee the best mascara, you’d go to L’Oreal (Givenchy is L’Oreal owned) because they had all the best formula patents locked down. For a long time, that was the case and while there are now lots of variations on the formula theme (bearing in mind there is only so much deviation you can take from a standard formula) I’d say that’s still quite a reliable stance.

Definition is one of the claims and that’s very much helped by having a rubber nodule brush rather than bristle. Big bristle brushes don’t really ‘comb through’ lashes but coat over them. This style of brush gives you a fair shot at individual lash coating but it’s always going to depend upon your lashes. I’m not particularly a fan of pristine mascara – the whole ‘separated with a pin’ look (which make up artists actually used to do for mascara ad photography) isn’t for me. I feel it should look a bit casually applied with a kind of don’t care attitude.

You can do a bit of combing out with a spoolie – but who has time! Nobody has ever said that my carelessly applied mascara could do with a bit of refining. The texture of the mascara is creamy (it has D-panthenol to help keep lashes flexible and strong) and it applies very nicely – when it’s brand new, wipe the brush first because it can over-deliver as most do but other than that it’s a generous, lengthening and deeply black formula. The first day I wore it was for my day at Centrepoint and I did notice a bit of panda at the end of that day, but haven’t since. I feel maybe that day was the exception because I was sweating! I’ve found the mascara at Look Fantastic for £27.20 instead of £34 HERE.
