Hello darlings,

The weather has finally turned in my part of the world and I’m craving all things cozy: if the plan isn’t reading while swathed in fuzzy blankets in front of a fire with cinnamon tea, I don’t want it.

2025 as been a whirlwind for me: I’ve traveled almost every month, which is a wild thing for someone who used to be too sick to stand up for very long to say.

Traveling in my new(ish) reality as a person disabled with Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome looks very different than traveling used to look for me as a reasonably healthy person, but I’m so grateful that my body has been able to get stronger and gain the endurance to let me go on adventures again.

As the year winds down, I’m trying to do the same: I’m embracing the cozy, close-to-home feeling that winter gives me and using it as inspiration to rest before the new year….while also planning to go to NYC one more time and then come home and celebrate Christmas and Hanukkah with extended family on both sides.

I hope that you’re able to take some cozy recharge time for yourselves as the weather gets colder, my darlings.

xoxo,
Becky

What I’m reading

The Very Secret Society of Irregular Witches by Sangu Mandanna: Bookshop.org | Amazon.

Ever since she was a child, Mika Moon has been an obedient witch: always following the strict rules that her guardian taught her to keep her magic and their community a secret. But it’s a lonely life, so she decides to take a risk and start a TikTok account for making real potions that she pretends are fake.

But when her TikTok catches the attention of an unusual household looking for someone to help three young witches growing up together despite the strict rules against that kind of arrangement, she starts to realize that everything she thought was settled about her life might actually be due for a change.

I wish I could put this book in a blender and drink it. It’s so cozy and warm and full of love! Cozy fantasy with a sprinkle of romance. Seriously, like a readable hug for your brain. I bought it as a gift for a friend within minutes of finishing it.

You Should Be So Lucky by Cat Sebastian: Bookshop.org | Amazon.

This book about a sardonic reporter slowly, inevitably, and completely falling in love with a professional baseball player with golden retriever energy is the best romance I’ve read all year.

Mark Bailey isn’t a sports reporter, but he’s spiraling out after losing the man he expected to spend his life with when his boss assigns him to cover some baseball games while his co-worker is out sick. Soon, Mark finds himself assigned to a day-in-the-life diary feature that’s intended to rehabilitate the image of the local team’s newest player who’s stuck in a terrible slump, hotshot Eddie O’Leary.

Set in 1960’s NYC, this beautiful queer love story deals with a lot of fear around being outed and worry over homophobia from the world at large, but watching these two characters choose each other in big and small ways as they grow closer and closer filled my heart with warmth.
