If you missed the news, Amazon recently put a new Echo Show – the Alexa-powered touchscreen smart home device – on digital shelves. This new device, called the Echo Show 10, has a motorized stem that allows it to follow you around the room. Yes, when you talk to the chatty AI assistant Alexa, the device rotates to follow your movements so the screen is always visible. If you’re asking Alexa for the latest headlines, juggling a few cooking timers, playing a box set on Netflix, or making a video call … just having your screen a glimpse away at a time can be very useful … so what is everything? does this have to do with the iPhone in your pocket?
Thanks to popular accessory maker Belkin, Apple’s best-selling smartphone will soon be able to copy the new Echo Show 10 party trick. Really.
Belkin has launched a range of new magnetic accessories for the iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro. These use the new MagSafe connection that is integrated into the iPhone 12 and 12 Pro series. With this small ring of powerful magnets you can attach a wallet, case or a hockey puck-like MagSafe charger to the back of your smartphone.
Belkin uses these magnets to secure iPhone in place without worrying about straps or plastic clips. This makes these new accessories look much slimmer and more minimalistic.
As mentioned above, one of these magnetic accessories is in the shape of a stand that, when combined with a specially designed Belkin app, allows your iPhone to recognize your face and rotate to ensure your handset is always facing you – accurate like the £ 239.99 Echo Show 10.
Android sends 20x more data to Google than an iPhone to Apple
According to Belkin, this newly announced booth has a full 360-degree rotating cover and magnets strong enough to support an iPhone 12 in both landscape and portrait orientation. Since you must have the Belkin app loaded to use face tracking, of course you can’t load your favorite app – like FaceTime or Pokémon Go – and still have the booth turn towards you while you’re in Move your home.
However, Belkin has built-in support for a number of popular social networks, including Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube. So you can watch your favorite YouTube creator cooking in the kitchen – and your iPhone stays in sight even if you run back and forth from the fridge and oven, for example.
There’s no word on a release date yet, but Belkin has confirmed that its new face-tracking booth will be priced at $ 65 when it launches.
Elsewhere, Belkin uses Apple’s MagSafe technology to create a fitness-oriented phone mount that you can use to attach your iPhone to indoor fitness equipment. When you place your iPhone 12 on the mount, the magnets are activated to keep it in place. Belkin then includes a strap that can be used to attach the handlebar mount on a fitness bike or treadmill. If you’re using a power machine with some metal, Belkin’s built-in magnets can secure the bracket to the machine without the need for a clever strap.
To round off the new magnet-powered accessory, Belkin introduced a 2,500 mAh portable power bank that magnetically attaches to the back of your iPhone for $ 50.
