Sony Xperia fans are getting a new smartphone this week that may make their current devices look significantly worse. The Japanese tech company recently sent an email to those who subscribe to the news updates: “Xperia, new product announcement. Please visit us for some exciting news …”
The news then explains that the grand reveal will take place on April 14th at 8:30 a.m. ET. What could it be and why is it an important announcement for Sony?
If all the rumors are correct, it seems almost certain that the new Xperia 1 III (that’s Mark 3 if you’re wondering) will be debunked during the online keynote.
There has already been a lot of speculation and some leaks that could confirm that this device is getting some serious improvements, including the introduction of Qualcomm’s newest and best Snapdragon 888 processor which should make this phone the fastest Xperia phone yet. Qualcomm’s chip is also more efficient, which should mean extra battery life.
Along with these new heads offering serious performance, we also expect a major upgrade to the rear camera, with Sony looking to add a periscope zoom camera for improved close-ups.

Other things to look out for could include a headphone jack, a side-mounted fingerprint scanner, and better integration with the PlayStation 5 for enhanced gaming outside of the console.
We’ll of course have full details on this device later this week and Express.co.uk will bring you all the news from Sony’s event live.
We hope Sony will cut the price on its new premium flagship, as the Xperia 1 II cost far too much at £ 1,099.
