Vanessa Bryant pays tribute to Gigi in an important way. On her daughter’s 15th birthday, Vanessa and Dannijo released a clothing line that went 100 percent to the Mamba and Mambacita Sports Foundation. The tie-dye sweatshirts, sweatpants, and face masks have a “No. 2” design, a nod to Gigi’s basketball jersey number.
“Today is my baby’s birthday,” wrote Vanessa on Instagram on Saturday. “As I was thinking about the best way to celebrate Gianna’s birthday with so many who loved her, I knew that sharing her bright and fun personality with her sense of purpose and passion had to be a combination to make a difference to effect in this world. “”
Gigi died with her father Kobe Bryant in a tragic helicopter crash in January 2020. Vanessa remembers Gigi’s kindness, energy and leadership as well as her “Mambacita Swag”. But most of all, “What Gigi would love most about the collection is that 100% of the proceeds go to the Mamba and Mambacita Sports Foundation, which works to have a positive impact on underserved athletes and young women in sports. Gigi was particularly motivated by the way as all women see in sport, and it is fitting that this capsule should show their worth. ”
